PRINCE & ELVIS's Story

Prince: The King of the "Spicy" Hello
Meet Prince, a 2-year-old long-haired hunk who looks like he just stepped off the cover of Maine Coon Monthly. He’s majestic, he’s fluffy, and he’s currently suffering from a minor identity crisis.

The Royal Paradox
The Hiss: When you walk up, Prince might give you a "scary" hiss. It’s a total bluff. It’s basically his way of saying, "I’m very confused and my hair is too fabulous for this cage, but please don't leave."

The Reality: Once you break through the tough-guy act, he’s a puddle of affection. He’s not mean; he’s just a sensitive soul who hasn't checked his GPS to see how he ended up at a rescue.

The Entourage: He didn't come alone—he’s here with his dad, Elvis. Apparently, the Royal Family is doing a residency at the shelter.

Why You Need Him
Prince is for the person who loves a "project" that takes approximately 30 seconds to complete. You give him a chin scritch, he forgets he was supposed to be intimidating, and suddenly you have a 15-pound fluff-cloud purring in your lap.

Prince: A little bit of spice, a whole lot of nice, and 100% royalty.

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!!!

The King and The Prince: A Royal Residency
Why settle for a solo act when you can book the whole world tour? Introducing the most iconic duo since peanut butter and jelly: Elvis and his son, Prince.

The Headliners
Elvis (The King): The veteran performer. He’s cool, he’s steady, and he’s here to show his son the ropes of the "domestic life" stage.

Prince (The Dramatic Heir): A long-haired Maine Coon lookalike who is currently going through his "rebellious" phase. He might hiss when you first approach, but it’s just stage fright. He’s actually a total softie who just needs a little "Vocal Coaching" (a.k.a. ear scratches) to start his set.

The Tour Rider
Accommodations: One couch (must be large enough for two legends).

Catering: Premium wet food and the occasional "Blue Suede" treat.

Security: These two are lovers, not fighters. They’re looking for a peaceful kingdom where the only "shaking" going on is a tail wag.

Why Adopt the Dynasty?
Adopting this father-son duo means instant harmony. Elvis keeps Prince calm, and Prince keeps life interesting with his majestic fluff and "tough guy" bluffs. They’ve been through it all together, and they aren't about to split up the band now.

Elvis & Prince: Because your house deserves a little more conversation and a lot more purring.

Would you like me to create a "Backstage Pass" themed graphic description or a set of funny "tour dates" (milestones) for their first month in a new home?

Are you tired of filling out the long applications? Did no one get back to you? If they did, was the cat was already adopted? We do things the way we want to here at Save Our Strays. I was told no to adopting a cat before, from a very big rescue for a foolish reason. I know how you feel and all the BS some of those applications ask. We are all adults; I will tell you all my same spiel I tell everyone else, if you adopt from us. Do not declaw your cat, if the cat is sick- have enough money to take them to the vet. If you ever need me, call me. We talk to you and ask questions ourselves and we know the cats well. If we think it is not going to work out, we will let you know. Everyone who is able and willing, deserves the companionship of a cat. It's an art that we have purfected here!

If you’re interested in meeting PRINCE, email SOS at saveourstrays.pgh@gmail.com or call/text (412) 863-0064 to arrange your visit.
During your visit, feel free to spend time with the cat you want to meet, but also take a look around. We always have cats with a wide variety of ages, coat patterns/lengths, and personalities. High energy antics? You bet. Couch potatoes? Check. Sweet, purring snugglers? Roger that. And please don’t overlook the shy wallflower who keeps glancing your way—introverts need love too. Often times, a cat is simply overwhelmed with their new rescue
environment and will blossom in a calmer home environment. Spend some time with our cats, watch them interact with each other and with you, and get their “vibe.” You’ll know the right cat—sometimes you choose and sometimes they choose you.

Since 2020, SOS has rescued and adopted more than 1,000 stray cats in the Pittsburgh area. Included in our adoption fee is full vetting. All of our cats are dewormed, have received Capstar for any flea issues and Selamectin for any parasites, received two FVRCP vaccines as well as their rabies vaccine, are treated for ear mites (if needed), are combo tested for FeLV and FIV, and are microchipped which will transfer to you. Once the adult cats are fully vetted and vaccinated, they freely roam across two floors and (Pittsburgh weather permitting…) also spend time in an outside Catio to soak up the sunshine.
We also have a free-roaming room for the fully vetted kittens to play, run, and practice their fancy acrobatics and sideways kitten shuffles.

SOS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our adoption fee, along with donations, allow us to tend to our rescued cats in the manner in which they deserve: fully vetted and fully cared for. We also allocate funds to continue TNR (trap, neuter, and release) efforts for all of the strays who are too unsocialized and human-adverse for an indoor home. By spaying/neutering, these
cats live a healthier life and no longer contribute to increasing the stray cat population.

When you adopt a cat from SOS, you’re doing more than giving a cat a good home. You’re also helping those stray cats who cannot be homed. One cat’s adoption improves multiple cats’ lives.

About SOSs Founder: Faon traps, rescues, and gives shelter to the SOS cats; they reside on the upper two floors of her home which have been modified to best meet the cats’ needs. She is extremely knowledgeable about each cat in her care and is happy to assist you finding the one who best matches your lifestyle and your home. She, along with a small team of dedicated women volunteers, work with SOS cats who have been rescued from a wide range of outside scenarios (some being outright deplorable) and transform them through veterinary care, socialization and behavioral work, and a whole lot of love into happy, healthy, and thriving cats.

Email SOS at saveourstrays.pgh@gmail.com or call/text (412) 863-0064 to arrange your visit.

Your new best friend is waiting for you

Save Our Strays, Inc's Adoption Policy
Please give your new pet TIME. It can take up to 3 weeks for even the most social cat to get used to their new home. Have one room set up for your new kitty, with limited spaces to hide. You can add a cardboard box and a blanket, for a guaranteed go to spot. DO NOT free feed your kitty. Feed 3 small meals (or two) a day and you bring in the food to them. Most cats LOVE canned cat food. So maybe half a canned and some quality dry food, is an good meal. Followed by some play time before or after, makes the new one very happy. You can add lysine powder or Forta Flora for additional nutrients. DO NOT DECLAW YOUR CAT. There are nail caps you can put on them(or have a vet do so) that work really well. They do not like them, but will get used to them. So use this as a last resort. Cats like to climb. Make sure you have enough “things” to entertain them. Take your cat to the vet at least once per year for checkups and vaccines. If your cat seems sick, injured, or is displaying behavioral issues- seek veterinary care IMMEDIATELY. Animal Friends has wellness appointments for $50 Always provide adequate food, water (at all times) and a clean litter box for your cat. Keep your cat inside. Cats that are allowed to roam outside can contract feline carried diseases. They can be seriously injured fighting with other cats, caught in a trap and get their ear tipped or worst of all be killed when hit by a car. Provide enrichment for your cat. Cats need to scratch, chase, hunt, hide, and play. Provide scratching posts, toys, boxes, play-time and other items designed for a cat will stimulate and entertain them while also helping to prevent unwanted behaviors. Never attempt to punish a cat. They will only learn to be fearful of you. Instead- redirect their attention with toys and play.
