Primrose's Story
Primrose is at the shelter for a THIRD time and the story is sad.

She originally arrived from a bad situation in March 2023, with her three black kittens. She had been a great mom, her kittens were adopted and then she found a home with another cat. However, she LOST her home when their owner passed away, sending both back to the shelter.

We noticed a severe tail injury when she returned. The vet determined that she needed to have it amputated because the injury couldn't be repaired. She was adopted a second time while waiting for her amputation appointment, but didn't adjust well so she was returned.

When she went to have the procedure, sadly that veterinary surgeon discovered that the "tail pull" injury was too close to the base of the tail and many nerves, so amputating the tail couldn't be done. Amputating the tail could lead to incontinence. However, she may sometimes need to be checked and wiped in case anything gets on her tail because she can't hold it up. We are deeply saddened because this will make it near impossible to find a home for her. Primrose has been sentenced to a difficult life through no fault of her own. She has been using the litter box at the shelter and we haven't had to wipe her but still needs to be checked.

A calm, less stressful environment would be best for Primrose.

She has been spayed, tested negative FeLV/FIV, microchipped and vaccinated. Email us at info@cnysnap.org or visit the shelter if you'd like to meet our pretty Primrose.

Link to hours of when to visit cats at our Cortland shelter:
https://cnysnap.org/#hours
