Portobello's Story

Meet Portobello - A Gentle Soul on the Mend

At just 4 years old, Portobello has already faced more than most. He came to us thanks to a Good Samaritan who found him as a very sick, injured stray, alone, scared, and in desperate need of help. From the start, Portobello was uncertain of people, and it took time, patience, and compassion to earn even a small sliver of his trust.

As he recovered physically, we discovered that Portobello is FIV positive (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV affects a cat's immune system, but FIV+ cats can still live long, healthy, and happy lives when kept indoors and given regular vet care. It's not easily spread, it requires deep bite wounds to transmit, so FIV+ cats often live peacefully with FIV-negative cats in low-stress homes.

Portobello is incredibly sweet beneath his cautious exterior -- and when he feels safe, he'll let that softness shine. But he needs a very special adopter to give him the time, space, and quiet environment he needs to blossom.

Ideal Home: Portobello would do best with a calm, older couple or individual who understands the beauty of a slow bond. He prefers a home with no children and no dogs, though he may do well with a gentle, cat-savvy feline friend.

Every day, this quiet boy gets braver, and every day, he gets closer to being the loving companion he was always meant to be.

šŸŒ™ Could you be the person who shows him what safety and love truly feel like?

#AdoptPortobello #FIVAwareness #ShyCatLove #SecondChancesMatter #QuietCompanions #AdoptDontShop
