POPPY IS A SURVIVOR — AND SHE IS LOOKING FOR HER VERY SPECIAL FOREVER HOME! <br/><br/>Some kittens come into rescue and leave a mark on your heart that you know will never go away. Poppy is one of those kittens. <br/><br/>Purrfect Haven Cat Rescue and TNR received a call about a cat colony desperately needing help. A neighbor had become concerned because an elderly couple was caring for cats whose numbers were growing by leaps and bounds. We went out to help get the colony under control through TNR.<br/><br/>As we were finishing, the elderly gentleman told us about a tiny kitten he had found lying on her side, unable to use her back legs. <br/><br/>They had taken her inside, but they had no transportation and no connections to get her the medical help she needed. She had already been there for approximately two weeks. Once we arrived to help their colony and returned their cats, he asked us the question we could never say no to:<br/><br/>Can you help this kitten?<br/><br/>Of course we could. <br/><br/>We took Poppy straight to the emergency hospital. Unfortunately, it became very clear that if we surrendered her there, her life would likely end that night.<br/><br/>So we walked back out with her.<br/><br/>Because this little girl deserved a chance.<br/><br/>The following day, Poppy had X-rays taken. Her spinal column looked good. Her pelvis looked good. She showed no obvious signs of pain. At this point, her inability to use her back legs is believed to most likely be the result of a birth defect or neurological/nerve issue.<br/><br/>And so began life with Poppy. <br/><br/>What we quickly discovered is that Poppy has absolutely NO idea that she is different.<br/><br/>She plays.<br/>She scoots.<br/>She eats like a champ.<br/>She uses her litter box.<br/>And most of all... she LOVES with her entire little heart. <br/><br/>Poppy would happily spend her entire day cuddled in your arms. She wants to be close to her person and absolutely soaks up affection. She is sweet, trusting, funny and incredibly determined.<br/><br/>She doesnt need someone to feel sorry for her.<br/><br/>She needs someone to see everything she CAN do instead of focusing on what she cant.<br/><br/>Poppy does wonderfully using the litter box. We simply accommodate her by providing a larger box that gives her plenty of room to turn around and another with a low side that she can easily access.<br/><br/>Her forever family will need to understand that adopting Poppy means being willing to accommodate her mobility limitations and keep her environment safe.<br/><br/>Because of her special needs, Poppys forever home must have no toddlers or young children and no dogs, as either could unintentionally injure her.<br/><br/>We know Poppys perfect person may take a little longer to find.<br/><br/>Thats okay.<br/><br/>We arent looking for just anyone. Were looking for HER person. <br/><br/>Someone who will scoop her up when she wants to cuddle.<br/>Someone who will make her home accessible to her.<br/>Someone who will protect her.<br/>Someone who will never look at her and see a broken kitten.<br/><br/>Because when we look at Poppy, we dont see what shes missing.<br/><br/>We see a survivor.<br/>We see determination.<br/>We see an incredible little life that was worth saving.<br/>And we see one of the sweetest kittens weve ever had the privilege of loving. <br/><br/>Poppy fought for her chance.<br/><br/>Now we need someone willing to give her the forever she fought so hard to have. <br/><br/> Special-needs home required<br/> No dogs<br/> No toddlers or young children<br/> An adopter committed to accommodating her mobility needs<br/><br/>Please share Poppys story.
