Pookie-$50's Story
Pookie came to us as a stray, so we don't know much about her past, but what we do know is that she's a very shy and sensitive girl who will need plenty of time, patience, and understanding to feel safe in her next home. While Pookie is nervous around people right now, she is highly food and treat motivated-often the best way to earn her trust. Pookie's finder reported that she did well living with other cats, so she may be comfortable in a home with a friendly feline companion, especially one who can help show her the ropes. If you're someone who believes the most rewarding bonds take time to build, Pookie may be the perfect companion for you.

The cat you are adopting is very shy. Patience and a gentle approach will be necessary to form a bond and help this cat feel that they are safe in their new environment. This means that the cat is likely to not want to interact with you at first and will need time to settle in and relax. It is likely to take weeks to months for this cat to become comfortable in your home. Even once settled, they may always be a shy cat who runs from visitors.

In order to have the best chance at creating a lasting bond with your new cat, you must go at their pace. When you get home, this cat should be set up in one room of your home, with a door that will stay shut while the cat adjusts. They should be offered a variety of foods and plenty of appropriate hiding places to help them feel safe during this transition. The cat should not be let out of their room until they seem like they are making progress and seem to want to explore more of the house.

Ready to Adopt?

You have two options:

#1- VISIT IN PERSON
Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm.
