Somewhere between 6 months and 2 years old, depending on whether you believe the vet’s assessment or her former caregivers, and one leg short of your standard issue cat, you have our amazing girl, Plum. <br/><br/>Plum’s name is partly a play on words. With only three legs, she’s just a little un-plumb. But it also comes from where we found her, a large colony we were working to TNR, where all the cats earned fruit themed names.<br/><br/>When we first showed up, the colony was sick, injured, and severely overpopulated. Plum caught our eye almost immediately because of the 3/4 leg with the bone hanging out that she was getting around on, giving her the unmistakable limp of a peg legged pirate in a cartoon.<br/><br/>She also wanted absolutely nothing to do with us. At least, that’s what she wanted us to think.<br/><br/>Once we got Plum trapped and safely inside, we discovered just how badly this little girl actually WANTED to be loved. From day one, she was all about scratches, a never ending supply of food, and being held close while she made biscuits and purred away.<br/>Plum can still be a little spooky if she’s given too much freedom too quickly. Give her a smaller space, some patience, and time to figure out that she’s safe, though, and that sweet little lap cat comes right out.<br/><br/>While Plum isn’t considered special needs, being down a limb does mean she does a few things a little differently. Her biggest accommodation is her litter box. She needs a nice, roomy box that gives her enough space to turn in circles and find her balance before she squats. Without enough room, she may accidentally miss the box, but what she lacks in balance she makes up for in personality and purs.<br/><br/>Plum LOVES other cats and would be thrilled to have a feline friend. Dogs make her a little nervous right now, but nothing we’ve seen makes us think that slow, patient introductions couldn’t help her adjust.<br/><br/>Plum is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated for rabies and FVRCP, FeLV/FIV tested, dewormed, and has received flea/tick prevention.<br/><br/>If you’ve been looking for a VERY special cat, both in personality and in body, Plum might just be your girl.
