Plissken's Story

The name's Plissken....so don't call her Snake!

This beautiful calico girl is the first one-eyed kitty we've ever welcomed into the Club. When she was found by our friend, the eye was so badly injured that it couldn't be saved. We aren't sure how it happened. But that doesn't matters. All that matters is that our girl is a survivor, and that she is one tough cookie, and that most importantly, she is now safe, and no one will ever hurt her again!

Plissken loves friendly cats, and greets them with headbutts and nose bumps. She is still a little leery around people, which is understandable. She allows pets, but since she is still getting used to things, you'll have to come in on her right side so she can see your hand and won't get spooked. Once you start petting her, there is a three-step process that Plissken operates on to let you know you're doing a good job. First, the purring starts. Second, the butt goes up high in the air. Then, once you start scratching the butt in just the perfect spot, Plissken will flop on her side and offer you her belly! And once that happens, you know you've won her over. And anyone who has ever had a calico before knows how hard it is to earn that trust! But once you've got it, she'll be your little four legged, one eyed, black, orange, and white furry shadow for the rest of her days!

Plissken is worried that having one eye will make people think she is "broken", but that couldn't be farther fromt the truth. She is a gorgeous kitty who is deserving of so much love. She is not disabled, she is just differently-abled, and she is learning to adapt to her new arrangment. Making noises when entering the room help let her know you're there.

She doesn't like being picked up yet, which again, is understandable. We are working on it. She doesn't FIGHT it, but she will make nervous meows and start to panic, trying to get away. So its best to stick with the petting and getting down to her level. Over time, she will warm up to you, and we honestly believe she will one day be a fulltime lap cat. Even in the short time we've known her, we've already got her inching over to us when we are petting her and suddenly stop. Which tells us that she WANTS that human interaction. Somebody must've hurt her, and she is just now starting to open herself up to new love and new people again. But as you might expect, that is a process that cannot be rushed.

Plissken likes to play with her toys, but she is shy to do so around us (so far). But when we check in with her in the morning after leaving her alone overnight, each morning, her toys are thrown all over the place!
