Pizza's Story

Pizza is a beautiful 2 year old calico who has spent the past several months being an incredible mama to her big family. She and her kittens (Rae, Pokey, Doug Doug, Dot, Cutie, Corn Dog, Brave Little Toaster, and Beanie) were surrendered to the shelter in mid-July. Pizza did an amazing job raising her babies, but now her kittens are old enough to be independent. That means this devoted mama finally gets to focus on something she deserves just as much: finding a loving forever home of her own! Pizza does not need to be adopted with one of her kittens, but we always like potential adopters to know about feline family connections. If someone happens to fall in love with Pizza and one of her babies, keeping family members together in a forever home can certainly be considered! And just look at her coat! Pizza is a true head-turner of a calico. A calico isn't a specific breed. It's a coat color pattern featuring patches of orange, black, and white. Calico cats are overwhelmingly female because the genes responsible for the orange and black coloring are carried on the X chromosomes. More than 99% of calico cats are female. After being such a wonderful mama, Pizza's next chapter should be all about being someone's beloved companion. Could you be the forever family she's been waiting for? The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. Adopting an animal is an important decision that will affect you, your household, and the animal for many years to come. Our primary goal is to place animals in a loving and forever home. We strive for the best possible match between you and your new pet. If you do not find the right animal on your first visit to our shelter, please return another day when new animals will be available for adoption. We include as much information as we know about an animal on their information card. We are here to help make a wonderful new addition to your family. Adoption Requirements • Must be 18 years of age or older (seniors 65 and over qualify for the Seniors for Seniors program) • Must have valid ID with current address • Must provide landlord’s name and phone number (or copy of current lease) • All members of the household should be present • You must understand that Berea Animal Rescue must approve your adoption application If this is your first visit, please follow this link, bit.ly/ARFWaiver, to provide us with your household’s information and sign our Animal Contact Waiver.
