Pixie's Story

Pixie: A Resilient Soul with a Gentle Heart
When Pixie arrived at our rescue in January 2025, she had just been pulled off the streets, her tiny frame fragile, her skin ravaged by mysterious wounds, and her spirit weary but intact. We didn’t know much, but we knew this: she deserved a second chance.
She bravely faced vet visits, endured the sting of cleaning treatments, and showed her gentle nature through it all. Despite a stubborn skin infection that resisted steroids, Pixie never stopped purring. She accepted belly rubs, melted into snuggles, and even wore her soft floral collar (begrudgingly at first) so her healing ointments could do their job.
We watched this precious girl transform. By May, two of her deep wounds had closed. By June, all that remained was a single small patch—proof of her resilience and of the love she received. Through it all, she never lost her sass or sweetness. She gave nose kisses freely, greeted me when called by her name, and turned her collar into a head pillow like the clever queen she is.
Now, Pixie is ready—not just to be admired, but to be loved. Her skin is healed, her energy is high, and her cuddles are unmatched. She’s proof that even the most vulnerable creatures can blossom with care and compassion. She doesn’t want pity—she wants a home, one that sees past her scars to the beauty inside. She needs a home of her own, though. She is not happy in a multiple-cat household.
Pixie is around 4–5 years old, mellow, affectionate, and adorably quirky. She is the kind of cat who changes you, and she’s ready to change someone’s life for the better. Can you be Pixie’s happily ever after? The adoption fee is at your discretion and is a donation to our rescue. Manatee, Hillsborough, Sarasota, and Pinellas counties only. Please apply to adopt her ONLINE and fill out the Adoption application at https://www.duetteanimalrescueteam.org/online-adoption-application. . Thank you for caring.
