Pita's Story

If you're looking for a well-rounded kitty, this beautiful, black house panther may be the right fit. Meet Pita, from our Greek foods litter.

Pita was born in one of our foster homes and has been handled since he was tiny. She is the only female kitten in her litter, and acts like you might expect a little girl growing up with 4 brothers to act. She is fierce and can hold her own, although sometimes her brothers can be a bit much for her because she's quiet a bit smaller than they are. Pita loves to play and to cuddle. She is a great little lap cat and loves to snuggle up in his foster mom's lap for some snuggle time while her brothers run around.

Thus far, Pita has no experience with dogs, although she may learn to live with one if introduced properly. Pita has never been around children, but she's quiet petite so will not do well with very young kids. She would probably be fine with kids 10 years or older. Pita's mother is very tiny and slender so we expect she will have the same build.

It will be important for Pita to go to a home whether there is already another cat or cats that want to be her friend. She does enjoy playing, but isn't high-energy. She would do well with a younger cat that wants to run around for a little while, but then would like to cuddle with her. Since Pita is quite small, a gentle cat or one with a similar body-type might be best. Pita could also be adopted with one of her siblings if her new family doesn't already have a cat. She gets along with well with Tiri and Filo; they are both her speed.

If you'd like to apply to adopt Pita and/or her siblings, please visit https://victoriapets.ca/adoption-process/ for a copy of our online adoption application and for information regarding our adoption process and fees. Please note that Pita and her siblings will only be adopted in the Greater Victoria area (Saanich Peninsula and south of the Malahat.)

Victoria Pet Adoption Society's Adoption Policy
Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment and a big responsibility. Dogs can live 15 years or more, and cats can live 20+ years. Like people, each individual pet comes with its own set of baggage, needs, and personality traits. Because your new pet will depend on you to provide its basic needs, we need to be sure that you are educated and up to the challenge. Our adoption process allows us to ask you some questions about your home environment, your lifestyle, and your needs, expectations, and limitations. We want to be sure that your new pet is going to be just as happy in its new home as you are to have it there. A Successful Adoption Process Includes the Following Steps: To start the adoption process, please complete the online adoption application found at https://victoriapets.ca/adoption-process/. If our adoption team feels as though your home will be a great fit for one of our pets they will contact you to set up a visit supervised by the foster parent who can answer some of the questions you may have about the animal of interest. You will not be able to take the pet home the day of the visit. One of our volunteers will contact you after the visit and will open a dialogue with you based on the information provided in your application. We will talk about your home and family, as well as your experience with pets. We will ask you to tell us about the kind of life and care you can offer to the adopted pet, and we will inform you about any health or behavioural issues that you should be aware of. (For dogs only) Once an adoption is pending, we will come visit your home to ensure that the environment is suitable for the pet in question, based on its needs. We can advise you of modifications that could make the adoption more successful, such as fencing and other things you may not have thought about. The adoption process generally takes several days, and this time line is intentional. It allows you time to think about your decision so that you can be sure that you are comfortable with the decision that you’ve made. Adoptions are never approved within 48 hours of the application being submitted. Once we have successfully journeyed through the steps above, you can pick up your new friend to begin a wonderful life together! Signing an adoption contract is a requirement for every pet that is adopted. Adoption Fees are as Follows: Kittens (up to 12 months of age) $400 Adult Cats (1 yr - 8yrs) $300 Senior Cats (9 yrs and older) $250 Special Needs Cats (other than kittens) $250 Puppies (up to 12 months of age) $600 Adult Dogs (1 yr - 8yrs) $400 Senior Dogs (9 yrs and older) $300 Special Needs dogs (other than puppies) $300 Rabbits $50 Guinea Pigs $30 Rats/hamsters $20 Mice $10 Adoption fees for other species may vary
