Pirate's Story

Pirate – The Strong, Silent Type With a Heart Full of Gold

Pirate is a handsome orange and white gentleman; he's not shy—he’s just... quiet. When Pirate first arrived, he didn’t make a single sound for weeks. Now he offers the occasional low, rumbly “mrrp” when you enter the room, as if to say “I see you there. Carry on.” Rumor has it that in the right home he might eventually become the chatty morning supervisor who commentates your coffee routine. Time will tell.

Petting? Absolutely welcome. Walk up, offer a hand, and Pirate leans in like he’s been waiting all day. Chin scratches, cheek rubs, full-back strokes—he’s an equal-opportunity affection acceptor. His purr starts slow and deep, then builds into something that vibrates his whole sturdy body.

Picking him up? Yes, and thank you for asking first. He goes a little stiff at first (new sensation, new human, new everything), but he relaxes quickly and just hangs out in your arms like a very dignified loaf with legs. He’s still practicing the whole “being carried” thing, but he’s a willing student.

Pirate has spent nights out with Darcy and Ken and proved himself the perfect chill roommate. He doesn’t feel the need to play chase or wrestle; he’d rather claim the prime sunny spot on the cat tree and oversee the kingdom in peace. Other easygoing cats are more than welcome—he’s the strong, silent neighbor who nods hello and never borrows your stuff.

If you’re looking for a calm, handsome companion who doesn’t demand the spotlight but quietly fills every room with steady warmth, Pirate is your guy. He’s ready for a home where the pace is gentle, the sunbeams are plentiful, and someone finally appreciates that silence can be the very best kind of conversation.

Visitors to the shelter are by appointment only and after a form has been submitted online:

https://www.marshmallowfoundation.org/forms/
