Pinto-Must be adopted with a buddy cat's Story

Pinto is a gorgeous, sweet, affectionate kitten. He loves to play, leaping and jumping after wand toys, chasing balls, and even catching houseflies. He is usually first on our laps and loves to be cradled like a baby for cuddles and kisses. He has a habit of staring deeply into people’s eyes, then reaching up and placing his paw right on their chest, by their heart. He also likes to touch his nose to their faces and give kisses.

Pinto is one of a litter of five incredibly special kittens who fought for several weeks to beat a nasty bout of feline coronavirus. Although they have had several reoccurrences of symptoms, each bout has been more mild than the last and they have responded well to appetite stimulants and anti-nausea medications on an “as needed” basis. Pinto has done particularly well, showing no symptoms during one of the last two bouts the beans experienced.

Since the bean kittens were sick, they could not be integrated into the household, where we had a bottle feeder who would have been vulnerable to the virus. So, Pinto and his siblings may need a bit of time to adjust to a new, larger space. However, since they are also incredibly resilient and were handled regularly since birth, they are expected to adjust very well once they get used to their new home and people.

Pinto is quite outgoing, often approaching new people for pats and cuddles within maybe a few minutes of meeting them. He has not been around young children or dogs so we don't know how he would react to them, but homes with calm, gentle, older children or dogs may be okay.

Pinto will need to have a cat buddy close in age. Although some cats exposed to coronavirus may occasionally shed the virus, it may help to know that this virus is extremely common - most cats in multi-cat homes encounter it at some point - and for the vast majority, it causes only mild, temporary symptoms. However, very young kittens and cats with weak immune systems can experience stronger symptoms, and in rare situations the virus can change into FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). Although FIP is serious, there are treatments available, now, and most cats respond well with proper care.

Pinto is a loving, cuddly, energetic, clever kitten, who has brought us so much joy. He loves to be held, walked around, and cuddled. He loves to give people kisses and make biscuits while he cuddles. Sometimes, he gets so relaxed that his little tongue sticks out. He will bring so much joy and love to his new family.

Like all ACR cats, Pinto up-to-date on vaccines and has been treated for fleas and parasites. https://annexcatrescue.ca/coronavirus/
