Check.<br/><br/>Hissing? Absolutely.<br/><br/>Scratching? Oh, yes.<br/><br/>Being handled? Hard no.<br/><br/>She looked at us like we'd personally ruined her entire life by introducing her to indoor plumbing and regular meals.<br/><br/>And then we sent her to foster.<br/><br/>And suddenly...<br/><br/>Phoenix got a personality transplant.<br/><br/>Our trusted foster mom Arica took Phoenix home and apparently someone forgot to tell Phoenix that she was supposed to continue being terrifying.<br/><br/>Instead, Phoenix fell in love with Arica and her husband.<br/><br/>She loves their two adult rescue cats.<br/><br/>She LOVES their dog.<br/><br/>She follows Arica around the house.<br/><br/>She begs for attention.<br/><br/>She happily accepts belly rubs.<br/><br/>She's eating beautifully.<br/><br/>She's affectionate.<br/><br/>She's relaxed.<br/><br/>She's... nice.<br/><br/>Excuse me?<br/><br/>We would like an explanation.<br/><br/>It turns out Phoenix isn't necessarily a difficult kitten.<br/><br/>She's a kitten with very strong opinions about real estate.<br/><br/>She does not want to live in a kennel.<br/><br/>She does not want to live in a crowded cat room.<br/><br/>She does not want to be told where she can go, when she can move, or who she has to share her personal space with.<br/><br/>Phoenix wants FREEDOM.<br/><br/>Give her an entire house and suddenly she's the sweetest little roommate you've ever had.<br/><br/>Apparently, the secret to Phoenix's happiness is simple:<br/><br/>Don't put Phoenix in a box.<br/><br/>Literally.<br/><br/>Once she has room to explore, places to retreat, humans she can approach on her own terms, and the freedom to make her own choices, she becomes a completely different kitten.<br/><br/>And honestly? We can respect that.<br/><br/>Phoenix is a wonderful example of why shelter behavior isn't always home behavior. Some animals simply cannot show you who they really are when they're stressed, confined, and surrounded by unfamiliar sights, sounds, smells, and other animals.<br/><br/>Phoenix needs a home where she can have her freedom and make her own choices. In return?<br/><br/>You get a kitten who apparently loves people, cats, dogs, belly rubs, attention, and following her favorite human around the house like a tiny furry shadow.<br/><br/>Just don't put her in a kennel.<br/><br/>She has made her position on that matter extremely clear.<br/><br/>Phoenix is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and looking for a forever home where she can stretch out, settle in, and finally be the happy kitten we now know she is.<br/><br/>Warning: Phoenix may arrive with a dramatic reputation that she will completely destroy within approximately 24 hours of getting home. Side effects may include belly rubs, following you from room to room, and wondering why anyone ever thought this girl was a troublemaker.
