Petunia's Story

Petunia (dob 7/2022) is a sweet, shy and reserved girl who prefers to take the world in at her own pace. She is not overly social, but enjoys visits from the shelter’s volunteers. During playtime she can often be found tucked cozily in a cubby, quietly watching the other cats as they bat toys and chase feathers. When the moment feels right to her, she steps out with her beautiful long slender legs and oversized paws to join in the fun showing her playful side in subtle ways. She has the cutest question mark tail when she strolls about comfortably. Petunia has no problem sharing the play space with other shelter kitties and gets along with all of her roommates. She has also been known to come out at feeding time and eat dry food right from a volunteer’s hand.

Petunia can be timid with people, but she does enjoy calm company. When she trusts you, she’ll allow you to come close and may even accept a pet or two. If she starts to feel unsure, she simply walks away to give herself space - she isn’t fearful or reactive, just thoughtful about her boundaries. Petunia prefers meeting new people at her own speed and will happily hang out once she knows you’re a friend.

Petunia would do best in a quiet home with adults and older children, and with minimal distraction where she can feel safe and respected. She would enjoy the companionship of another quiet cat in the household, or a kitty she is friends with at the shelter.

Petunia requires someone who is willing to invest a little time in the socialization
process and provide plenty of active play. Like all cats coming from a shelter there is an adjustment period, and Petunia needs just a bit of patience and understanding, allowing her to blossom and become comfortable in her forever home. She truly has the potential to shine as a gentle and observant companion. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate cat to keep you company, Petunia is ready to move in and make your home her favorite playground!

To meet Petunia and visit the shelter located at the Thrift Shop/Cattail Farm, 1784 Post Road, Wells, ME (Route 1), please go to our website and fill out an adoption application. We will be in touch to make an appointment for your visit.

Adoption Applications:
https://www.safehavenhumanesociety.org/adoption-form/

If you have any questions regarding a cat located at the Cattail location please
contact: shelly@safehavenhumanesociety.org

Filling out an application is not a commitment to adopt!
