Pete's Story
***PLEASE READ ENTIRE PROFILE DESCRIPTION BEFORE APPLYING! We spend a LOT of time getting to know our rescues and formulating their profiles to be as detailed as possible, in order to encourage only the most well-fitting adoptive homes to apply. If Pete is still listed here, he is still available and looking for his furever home! Thank you! ***

If you want a bombproof, playful, outgoing, spunky, tough, busy, sweet, huggable, dog-like teenage boy who LOVES THE HECK out of children and dogs, Pete is your boy!

Pete is a blue snowshoe point Siamese mix who was found as a lone 4-week-old kitten in the back of a truck, and in addition to having difficulty ambulating normally, he had an upper respiratory infection and an inflamed cornea in his left eye. He was also very thin and scruffy, but he was feisty and willing to fight for survival. He healed well and grew into the most gorgeous, healthy, hilariously goofy cat. The inflammation affected the color of the eye, making it a darker blue than his right eye, but had zero effect on his vision and he sees perfectly. There are no lasting issues from it at all.

Pete is now almost 9 months old and is the kind of cat I think most people wish for:

In his foster home, Pete REALLY loves the children the most and gravitates to them. He sleeps every night with the 7-year-old in her top bunk bed, climbing his big frame up the ladder to be with her and sleeping near her head while kneading her fuzzy blankie. He also likes to hang out up there with her when she’s reading, drawing, etc. and likes to hang out in her room and playroom with her. A home with older (7+) cat-savvy children for Pete to play with, interact with, and cuddle with would be ideal. A busy household is no big deal for Pete once he settles in — he’s pretty much bombproof and couldn’t care less about busy, loud kids. He wants to be right inside the chaos in the playroom! He can play VERY rough sometimes though so he needs older kids who are equally as bombproof.

He absolutely LOVES dogs, almost to a fault. He rubs all over them, even when they're literally licking and mouthing him and making his fur all slobbery and gross. LOL! He'll swat at their ankles to entice them to play with him, and even if they stomp on him accidentally, he'll run away then run immediately back to continue the shenanigans where they left off. He doesn't get fazed at all. Super high energy dogs who chase cats or play super rough would be a no-go for Pete, but a more mellow dog who loves to play with cats and knows when to leave them alone would be perfect. I think multiple dogs would also be a lot for him, but 1-2 would be great! The dog he's playing with in the video is an 80 lb. Goldendoodle named Stetson who his foster mom boards when his family is out of town, and his play level is perfect for Pete. He never chases, but is game for fun any time Pete's ready and starts it up.

On the same token, Pete also absolutely LOVES other cats who want to rough and tumble with him, wrestle around, chase, tackle, bite, kick, all the fun things. Not all the time, as he's mellowing out now that he's a teenager, but 1-2 times per day he wants to have fun with his feline friends. Then he will plop in a pile with them and wash them all over their face on the cat bed near the window. He can get along with ANY cat, but cats who don't REALLY enjoy/tolerate other cats might be overwhelmed by his attempts at friendship and play.

Pete would also do just fine as an only cat as long as he has a dog buddy. He needs an energy outlet though, so if you are interested in Pete and have no cats or dogs, he does have a really lovely foster sister that he adores, and I would love to see them go together! Luna is the beautiful Siamese mix in the photo with Pete. She was born to a feral mom and found inside the wall of a building at 6-7 weeks. She is now 4 months old and almost ready for adoption. Her personality is super playful and silly, but less brazen than Pete and more reserved and cuddly/loving/needy. She cannot be with dogs though, she is terrified of them. Also kids under 7 or loud households with multiple kids would overwhelm her at this juncture. Her listing will be up soon!

Pete also has a very affectionate, sweet side when he's not being a busy body. He loves to give kisses and wants to lick your lips/face for reassurance. He enjoys being picked up and lugged over your shoulder for a few minutes, getting petted and being allowed to give you kisses. Then he'll tell you when he wants down. He also loves fuzzy blankies and will snuggle and knead them with you in bed or on the couch, usually at your feet or next to you somewhere. He isn’t a lap cat and won’t want to be ON you, just next to you or near you. However, at night he loves to sleep all snuggled up with his favorite kid, and will stay there all night long.

When Pete plays, he loves interactive toys like laser pointers, wand toys, and feathers — feathers are his favorite thing on Earth. He also loves fuzzy mice, pipe cleaners, and ping pong balls. Cat trees and climbing opportunities are a must, he really loves to climb high and observe the goings on. For a big boy, he is very agile and active!

I would not recommend homes with other small pets like birds, hamsters, snakes, etc. unless they are very, very secured in cages or in other rooms he can't get to. He will obsessively want to watch them and try to play with them, and may even try to hunt them. Ferrets would probably be fine since they are tough and can definitely play with the same level of toughness he does!

--------------------------------------------------------

As always, all available cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested for FIV/FeLV. Cats 7 years and over have had full dentals completed.

Our kitties come with lifetime behavioral support, and a no-questions-asked return policy.

All adoptions require an approved application, and a home visit upon approval when your new family member is delivered. For homes further away who plan to pick up their new baby, a Facetime home visit is required!

If you are interested in adopting Pete, please download our adoption application from our website: http://www.FreddiesFelines.org and return via e-mail to FreddiesFelines@gmail.com.

I apologize, but due to the overwhelming number of inquiries we get, we cannot answer phone calls about our kitties. Our rescue is small and it’s just me running the show with a few foster homes! Please fill out and e-mail the application if you are interested in any of our furkids!

Special Breed Adoption Fee: $100
