Penelope, a beautiful calico, has a story as unique as her coloring. Brought to ARF on St. Patrick's Day after finding her way into a kind person's garage, she now waits her forever family. Her name, Penelope, comes from the clever and loyal wife of Odysseus in Greek mythology, a character known for her intelligence, patience and gentle strength. Just like her namesake, Penelope the cat has shown smarts, resilience and a careful, thoughtful approach to people and her surroundings. Why Penelope will steal your heart: * She has a spicy, playful side, but quickly realized people are wonderful and she loves gentle pets. * She enjoys bird videos and will happily "watch" the world from her favorite sunny spot. * A true biscuit maker, she kneads with skill while getting head rubs. * Soft brushing with a grooming glove is one of her favorite indulgences. * Sweet, affectionate and cautious, she appreciates patience and gentle love. Penelope is ready to bring cleverness, charm and heart to a forever home. Like her mythological counterpart, she's loyal and loving to those who earn her trust. Could that be you? Adopting an animal is an important decision that will affect you, your household, and the animal for many years to come. Our primary goal is to place animals in a loving and forever home. We strive for the best possible match between you and your new pet. If you do not find the right animal on your first visit to our shelter, please return another day when new animals will be available for adoption. We include as much information as we know about an animal on their information card. We are here to help make a wonderful new addition to your family. Adoption Requirements • Must be 18 years of age or older (seniors 65 and over qualify for the Seniors for Seniors program) • Must have valid ID with current address • Must provide landlord’s name and phone number (or copy of current lease) • All members of the household should be present • You must understand that Berea Animal Rescue must approve your adoption application If this is your first visit, please follow this link, bit.ly/ARFWaiver, to provide us with your household’s information and sign our Animal Contact Waiver. Fees The shelter accepts cash or Mastercard, Visa, or Discover. *If paying in cash, please understand that volunteers are unable to make change. CAT ADOPTION INFORMATION Senior cats (7 years and older): $65.00 Cats (7 months – 6 years) – $100.00 Kittens (less than 7 months) – $140.00 Special breed pricing — $200 Cardboard carriers available – $5.00 *Certain animals may carry fees that are higher or lower than indicated here based on special circumstances. Included in fee: Immunodeficiency Virus & Leukemia Test, Spay / Neuter, Basic Vaccination, Rabies Vaccination (as age appropriate), Worming, Microchip DOG ADOPTION INFORMATION Senior Dogs (over 25 lbs and 8 years and older) – $95.00 Adult Dogs (7 months to 8 years) – $175 Puppies (less than 7 months) – $275.00 Small Dogs (less than 25 lbs and less than 11 yrs) – $210.00 Small Senior Dogs (less than 25 lbs and older than 11 yrs) – $95.00 Purebred Dogs – $375.00 *Certain animals may carry fees that are higher or lower than indicated here based on special circumstances.
