Meet Pearl, a beautiful black kitten with a tiny tuft of white on her chest that looks like she's wearing a dainty pearl necklace.<br/><br/>Pearl came to ARF at the start of June after she and her siblings were rescued by a compassionate Good Samaritan. Instead of facing the uncertainty of life outdoors, Pearl and her family were given the opportunity to grow up safe, healthy and surrounded by people who care.<br/><br/>She arrived alongside her siblings: Dory, Darla and Squirt. While Pearl does not need to be adopted with one of her siblings, we always like to make potential adopters aware when littermates arrive together. Some families enjoy adopting two kittens so they can continue growing up side by side with a lifelong playmate, while others are looking for just one special companion. Pearl will be happy either way!<br/><br/>Sadly, black cats (and black dogs too) are often overlooked in shelters, sometimes waiting longer for homes than pets with other coat colors. But those who adopt them quickly discover what so many already know. Their coat color has nothing to do with the amount of love they have to give!<br/><br/>In fact, black cats have been celebrated throughout history in many cultures. In Japan, they're believed to bring good fortune and are even thought to attract love and happiness. In Scotland, a black cat arriving at your doorstep is said to be a sign of future prosperity. Sailors in parts of Britain once considered black cats lucky companions, believing they would bring safe voyages and protect their families back home. Across the world, these sleek, elegant felines have long been symbols of good luck, protection and prosperity.<br/><br/>Like any kitten, Pearl is full of curiosity, playful energy and endless entertainment. Expect joyful zoomies, toy-chasing adventures, climbing, exploring, and plenty of naps after a busy day of discovering the world. Kittens thrive with interactive play, scratching posts, nutritious food, routine veterinary care, and lots of love as they grow into confident adult cats.<br/><br/>Pearl has already been given a second chance. Now she's hoping someone will see the wonderful kitten she truly is and give her the forever home she's been waiting for. Come meet Pearl and you just might find that a little black kitten brings the brightest kind of happiness into your life! <br/><br/>The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times.
