Pear's Story

Meet Pear, a delightful little girl with sparkling green eyes, long white whiskers, an adorable pink nose, and a personality as unique as her name. We think Pear is a lot like a prickly pear — beautiful, sweet, full of character, and just a little bit prickly when you get too close too quickly. But give her the space and respect she needs, and you’ll discover a silly, adventurous girl with plenty of sweetness to share. Whether she’s chasing her favorite toy, tackling her cardboard scratcher, investigating something new, or zooming around simply because it’s fun, Pear has an infectious spirit that is sure to bring smiles to your home. Like any good prickly pear, Pear has her boundaries — and she’d love for her future family to respect them. She can become easily overstimulated with too much petting, so she’ll do best with an adopter who understands her body language, recognizes when she’s had enough, and is happy to give her space when she asks for it. Pear may have a few prickles, but that’s part of what makes her so wonderfully Pear. She isn’t looking for a home that expects her to be a certain way; she’s looking for someone who will appreciate her quirks, respect her boundaries, encourage her playful side, and let their relationship grow naturally. With a little understanding, patience, and lots of playtime, this energetic little prickly pear has so much love and personality to offer. And there's an extra bit of good news: Pear is being sponsored by our Kyle's Fund, which means her adoption fee will be waived and she will go home with a goody bag to help get her all set up in her new home!

A photo ID is required at the time of all adoptions. Hawaiian Humane operates on a first come, first served basis, if you complete a questionnaire for a particular pet online, that does not reserve the pet. To best serve you, check in at least 30 minutes before closing to meet with an adoptions representative. Please note that if you wish to conduct a meet-and-greet between your dog and one of our available dogs, due to the high volume of visitors, you may be asked to wait outside our gate with your pet until an adoptions representative is available or reschedule for a different day.
