Peaches ***Special Needs: Tail Amputee***'s Story
Peaches: gorgeous peach point, all booty, no tail!

I arrived at an emergency hospital one day, brought in off the streets of Worcester by a good Samaritan couple who saw blood on my white fur on the streets, and my tail had no signs of life.

Luckily, the blood was just due to the worst flea infestation ever. My tail though: dead as a doornail.

The vet said I needed a tail amputation.

Ironically, Fitchburg Friends of Felines, a rescue that always is taking in medical kitties, happened to be at the hospital with another white kitty in need of medical attention, so they were asked to take me, too! (Like a 2 for 1 deal on white cats... it was to my benefit, of course!)

So I went to a foster home, and within a few days, I got my tail chopped off at the very base, because it was that bad.

Tails are overrated. I look adorable. I have the most stunning blue eyes, and soft, luxurious fur, if I do say so myself!

I was a slow healer, unfortunately, and really wanted to chew on the space where my tail should have been, so a cone on the head I was given (definitely not willingly) and meds to fight infection and for pain. Let me tell you, if I never have to wear a cone again, it will be too soon! My foster mom was great during the ordeal, but man, I was tortured with it!

When I thought the worst was over, my foster noticed some inflammation on my glands, so back to the doctor I went, and they did some fancy footwork and I am again on the mend! But, more time in that cone! Oigh!

So now I am at a foster home in this really comfy room with this nice family that gives me attention. I have a lot of things to play with in Windows to look out of and comfy stuff to lay on. I do love attention from my humans.

I am one athletic girl. And my hunting capabilities at unsuspecting wand toys, I am definitely a prowess. and without the tail, I resemble a mini but mighty bobcat, as my foster mom says. I agree.

I am a fan of toys. There is this blue curly ribbon wand toy I love, and will literally walk around the room with it showing my catch to all, knowing my prey has no chance with me!

Although I am a huntress, I am also happy to curl up and take a good nap.

With me, you get the best of both worlds: both sweet and sassy! I love to be pet and is happy to be held. I prefer a football hold, but once I am done with all that, I will let you know.

I have opinions about most things, which I will also make sure you know about via meowing and/or staring at you and the occasional threat to nip, which includes when you play with me, when you pet me, and when to feed me.

Yes, I am a demanding one. I would call it occasional sassiness.

My ideal home would be without small children due to my sass. We don't need any tail pullers on my watch! Luckily, I have no tail...

Maybe with a family that has the time to play with me because I am definitely an energetic type. In my foster home now, I am tolerant of dogs, and have an alpha cat personality, so I would do fine with other kitties who are willing to let me be the boss. I am confident to explore new spaces, and do not mind the car, so it is possible I would be a good candidate for an adventure-kitty who goes on rides, or travel with you.

I would be a great pet for a wide variety of homes and people – so long as everyone in the home (humans and other pets) is willing to recognize and respect my opinions, I will be happy in almost any situation. I would be both a lovely solo companion in a quiet home or as family pet in a more rambunctious house with or without other animals.

Imagine the possibilities! Hoping to meet you soon!

Fitchburg Friends of Felines facilitates a foster to adopt program that places the intended adoptee with the potential adoptive family.
