Pastrami's Story

Pastrami
Male DSH orange tabby
Approximately 5.5 months old

Pastrami is a *very* people shy cat. He is independent and is starting to warm-up to the idea of coexisting with people and that we are not that scary. But it is a slow process. He is one of those cats that needs time and effort put into continuing his socialization journey. We celebrate the little victories such as him jumping up on the bed for the first time and not running around if you walk within 5 feet of him. He came into rescue with his 2 sibling when he was around 3 months old and had missed out on crucial socialization. He is however a quirky little guy who LOVES other cats, is very playful, and will do anything for a lickable treat. We've been working with him on getting him used to being pet while giving him lickable treats, but it takes time and effort. He will occasionally sleep on the end of the bed, but if you move then he runs away.

Housing information: He needs a quieter household as he's still timid and gets spooked by loud noises or quick movements. He has lived with a small dog (11 lbs) but prefers that they keep their distance. He NEEDS a house with other cats as he is always curling up with and chasing toys with the other cats. He has also been around a calm large dog (70 lbs) and did not seem to mind at all except for being confused at why it was so much larger than he is!

Location: In foster

Medical: All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age appropriate vaccines (rabies and distemper), microchipped, given flea/tick prevention and dewormer, FIV/FeLV tested, and any other veterinary care that is needed prior to adoption.

If you are interested in adopting, fill out an application online at www.figandfriendspetrescue.org/adopt

Fig and Friends Pet Rescue's Adoption Policy
~We do not adopt to homes with animals who are not spayed or neutered unless there is a valid reason such as vet recommendation. ~We do check references including landlord if you rent and your vet both past and present. ~We do not adopt to homes that plan on declawing the cat we have adopted out to you or that plan on letting a cat outside (unless on a leash and harness under owner's continued observation). ~If we see something on your application that we are concerned about, we will always try and have a conversation with you to find out the why. We understand you might have declawed a cat in the past or had to rehome an animal. It can happen to anyone. We like to dig deeper and won't deny someone just based on surface information.
