Papaya's Story
Meet Papaya!

Papaya is a 1-year-old, petite dilute tortie with a couple white markings, a pink-and-grey nose, and stunning green eyes. Weighing in at a dainty 7 lbs, this sweet, independent young mom cat has raised her litter of three and is ready to settle into a happy life with a loving family.

Personality & Behavior
Papaya is a friendly, curious, and playful girl who likes affection without being clingy. She loves greeting humans—including friendly strangers! She is wonderful with respectful kids who understand how to interact gently with a petite cat. She could also do well with a calm, non-domineering resident cat her age or older who respects her space. While she isn't a fan of sudden loud noises or surprising fast movements, she quickly warms up once she feels safe. She is more of a ground dweller who prefers keeping all four paws lower, though she makes an exception for a good window perch.

Papaya is generally quiet, but she will occasionally make tiny questioning sounds or call out if she's looking for you. She loves a predictable bedtime and enjoys sleeping part of the night right beside her humans. When she’s extra relaxed, she does the cutest full-body stretches. She also loves a good scratch, and if you hit just the right spot, she might even drool a tiny bit in pure bliss!

Favorite Things & Play
- Toys: Loves catnip toys, cat grass, and wire wand toys like the Cat Dancer.
- Scratchers: Big fan of both vertical and horizontal sisal and cardboard scratchers.
- Treats & Food: This girl only loves salmon! Salmon squeeze treats, salmon broth–toppings, salmon wet food. Kibble she's flexible on. She has zero interest in human food beyond giving it a curious sniff.

Handling & Care
Papaya is wonderfully easy to handle, pick up, and doesn’t mind when you touch her paws. When stressed in tight quarters, she can overgroom her tail—a habit that disappeared completely once she got more space to spread out and relax with her kittens. A calm, structured home environment will keep her happy, healthy, and thriving.

Quick Facts:
- Breed: Domestic Shorthair (Dilute Tortoiseshell with White)
- Age: 1 year old
- Weight: 7 lbs (Petite)
- Energy Level: Playful, curious, and sweet
- Good with: Adults, respectful kids, friendly strangers, and chill, non-domineering adult cats; prefers a home without fast, sudden noise triggers.

If you are looking for an independent, affectionate, and beautifully unique companion, Papaya is ready to melt your heart!

All OARS cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, up to date on rabies and distemper, and have had dewormer medication as a preventive measure. All have tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. Some kitties may even have a microchip.

HOW TO ADOPT

*Complete an adoption application on our website
http://www.orphananimalrescue.org/adopt

*Contact your veterinarian's office and NON-RELATED personal references to expect a phone call from someone at OARS. This helps us process the application within 2 days.

We focus on providing personalized care for these cats in a loving, home-like environment. Cats live in cozy rooms (cage-free!) where they can play with their favorite toys, watch bird feeder activity, and nap in a favorite sunny spot.
To save as many lives as possible, we partner directly with other rescues and shelters to focus our efforts on overcrowded facilities and kitties who require extra TLC to prepare them for adoption. Because of this, we cannot accept cats directly from the public. Everything we do is fueled by your generosity! As a 100% donation-supported rescue, every dollar goes straight toward food, supplies, and veterinary care for the animals in our hands.

Get involved and be part of the difference for these pets.
Facebook: ORPHAN ANIMAL RESCUE AND SANCTUARY
Website: OrphanAnimalRescue.org
Instagram: @OARSRescue
TikTok: @OARSRescue
