Pandora's Story

Pandora: Professional Couch Potato Looking for a Safe Place to Land

Hi, I’m Pandora. I’m a beautiful 9 yr old girl with black, brown, white, and cream fur. I’m quiet, gentle, and happiest relaxing near someone I trust. I’ve perfected the art of being a couch potato, and I would love to find a person who appreciates the quieter side of life.

My story began outdoors. My mother was a stray who had her kittens near a kind woman’s home. She brought our whole family inside, found homes for my siblings, and decided to keep me. I became her special girl and spent many years knowing what it felt like to be loved.

Unfortunately, while my person was in the hospital, someone entrusted with my care did not treat me very kindly. I was neglected and frightened, and the whole experience taught me to be cautious around unfamiliar people. So, I may hide or keep my distance when we first meet. I need time to watch, sniff, and decide for myself that you are safe.

But please don’t mistake my fear for aggression! I'm actually a really sweet girl. I don’t bite, and underneath my nervousness is an affectionate cat who wants to be close to her person. Once I trust you, I really enjoy attention, gentle petting, and sharing the couch. (I’m also very interested in food, which may be a useful tidbit of information for anyone hoping to win me over. Hint hint.)

I have lived with children previously and have done well with them. I also lived with other cats in the past, though it's been several years, so I would need a slow, thoughtful introduction to any feline roommate. I haven’t had enough experience with dogs for anyone to know how I would feel about one.

I am spayed and house-trained, and all of my veterinary care will be brought up to date. No special medical needs are known at this time, but you may notice some matting on my back that's not so pretty. Don't worry - I have an appointment with a kitty hair stylist who's going to remove those pesky matts and give me a beautiful haircut. I will look stunning for my new home!!

My ideal home would be calm and predictable, with someone who understands that trust needs to be built over time. I need a gentle and understanding person who will give me space when I ask for it and be there when I’m ready to come closer.

I’ve been through more change than I deserved. Now I’m hoping for a quiet home, a soft place to nap beside someone kind, and the comfort of knowing I won’t have to leave again.

Personality traits: Affectionate, gentle, quiet, cautious, easygoing, food-motivated, couch potato, independent, loyal, and loving once she feels safe

Fitchburg Friends of Felines facilitates a foster to adopt program that places the intended adoptee with the potential adoptive family. This ensures that your feline companion is the perfect fit as well as provides support as you both transition into your new life together.

You can fill out an adoption application here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1685w60NjfU2eeE55Cd57TAaEZU7bERjyY825EMto48sTQw/viewform

Please reach out to Fitchburg Friends of Felines directly at 978-222-3170 or fitchburgfriendsoffelines@gmail.com with questions. Fitchburg Friends of Felines, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Potential adopters are required to have a solid character reference, vet reference, and a site visit which can be conducted virtually. Due to MA regulations, we cannot intake pets from out of state. We offer a foster to adopt program to guarantee the intended kitty is a good fit for your family. We also require that all adopters agree to return the kitty should the adopter no longer be able to care for him or her in the future, or an agreed to person is identified to continue care for this kitty. We are not a brick and mortar; all available cats are kept in foster homes. Therefore, we would need time to schedule a visit to meet a kitty. We are happy to travel to match the perfect kitty for your family. Our adoption fees are normally $250 per cat, $350 for specialty breeds or exotics, and $50 less per kitty if interested in multiples. For specific questions, or for an adoption application, please feel free to reach out to us directly: fitchburgfriendsoffelines@gmail.com or call our hotline: 978-222-3170
