Pal & Guilder An Unlikely Pair, A Perfect Match's Story
Pal & Guilder: An Unlikely Pair, A Perfect Match

Pal and Guilder are the best of feline friends. While their personalities couldn't be more different, they've found comfort, confidence, and companionship in each other. They both love rubbing against their people, and treats are undoubtedly the fastest way to win their hearts. Guilder is happy to let you take the next step with gentle pets, while Pal prefers to build trust at his own pace.

Both boys were rescued from life outdoors and given a second chance and area perfect example of why spaying and neutering cats makes all the difference. These two would have been staunch adversaries outside if intact but being neutered has changed everything

Pal arrived in care as a four-year-old intact male who had earned a reputation as the neighbourhood troublemaker. His caring feeders knew he deserved a better future and reached out for help so he could leave street life behind.
Guilder came to CatNap as a two-year-old intact male. He never had the opportunity to enjoy a carefree kittenhood, instead learning to survive on the streets. He was rescued alongside several other cats and kittens, all of whom have since found homes. It took Guilder time to let go of his survival instincts, but once he realized he was safe, his affectionate, loving personality began to shine.

These two make an unlikely duo, but they couldn't be more devoted to one another.

Guilder is an affectionate companion who loves being close to his people. He'll weave around your legs, come when called, and happily soak up attention from those he trusts.

Pal is a handsome Siamese cross with crossed eyes that affect his close-up vision. Because of this, he's understandably cautious when hands approach too quickly. He may give a little hiss or step back until he can get a better look, but it's simply his way of making sure everything is safe. Once he's comfortable, he's an easygoing house cat who loves lounging in the cat tree, watching the world go by, and quietly keeping an eye on his family.

While both boys have always enjoyed the company of other cats, they've found something truly special in each other. They eat together, sleep together, play together, and spend their days side by side. If one wanders out of sight, the other immediately goes searching.

Pal and Guilder are looking for a patient family who understands that trust is earned and that the strongest bonds often take a little time to build. In return, you'll be rewarded with the joy of watching two deserving boys continue to blossomtogether.

Pal and Guilder are on a calorie-controlled canned food diet to support healthy weight loss. Both still carry some anxiety from not always knowing where their next meal would come from, so their adopter will receive detailed guidance about their feeding plan.

To help Pal and Guilder settle into a new space, we recommend starting them off in a smaller safe room so they can adjust gradually and feel safe. Reading the Rule of Three document included with the adoption resources will help you help Pal and Guilder settle in.

Ideal Home
Pal and Guilder would do well in a quieter, predictable adult home, older teens can be considered.

Compatibility
Cats: Both Pal and Guilder have done well with other cats but are both big cats so can feel intimidating to other cats
Dogs: Pal did well with the large cat savvy senior dog early in care with CatNap, it is unknown how Guilder is with dogs.
Kids: Older cat savvy teens can be considered for the boys, the energy of young kids will overwhelm Pal and Guilder

Age
Estimated age: Pal almost 7 years old, Guilder 3 years old

Veterinary Information
The boys have been neutered
Pal has had comprehensive dental procedures done including having most of his teeth extracted and cleaning/polishing were done. He has good oral health currently. A home oral hygiene regimen such as daily tooth brushing, oral gel, water additive or dental care products to reduce bacteria and plaque buildup is recommended. Your vet can advise on the best products to help with dental care
Pal had an eye specialist exam and everything was within normal limits except for deviation of eye inwards(esotropia) and subtle twitch (nystagmus). These abnormalities impair his ability to track objects in his visual field, he compensates by turning his eyes inward. No treatment recommended and no pain associated with this condition
Vaccinated for FVRCP and Feline Leukemia
Microchipped
Deflead and dewormed
Six weeks of pet insurance
Health record card
Specific diagnostic testing may also have been done as each cat's health may warrant while in CatNap's care.
