Ozen's Story

DOB approx: 6-1-2020

Personality

Ozen is very handsome with very big eyes and his dark gray tuxedo. He loves to lay on the couch and watch TV with you and rub against your legs as you fill his food bowl. He is great with all other cats and has lived in a home with dogs. He had low self esteem in his early life, but now is confident and just makes himself right at home.
It took him and his sister Genji many months to decide that they weren't afraid of humans, since they had never lived indoors with people before as kittens. Both of them had a turn of heart as teenagers and abruptly became super friendly (ironically in the same time period even though they weren't living together anymore, and had been in separate foster homes for months!). Both just all of a sudden decided it was too much effort to avoid everyone and that they were actually grateful to the hands that feed them.
Ozen was TNR'd and released when old enough to be neutered, but then walked back into the house and never left. He didnt want to be an outdoor feral cat! Patience and persistent foster humans for the win!

Background

Ozen and his 2 sisters, Eshin and Genji, were rescued when they were about 8 weeks old. They were living in a parking lot behind a club off of Westheimer with their momma Buddha. A large colony of cats were being fed by the security guards there and a neighbor noticed her litter and asked GNAR for help getting them off of the street. They were older than they looked as they were small from malnutrition. Their litter and extended family that were subsequently trapped were all named with a Buddhism theme. Eshin was adopted first because she was both the sweetest and prettiest. Ozen and Genji are still waiting.
If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my rescue family at GNARHouston@gmail.com to arrange a visit with my foster home!

Good Neighbors Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
Adoption Policy Visits are available by Video chat with the adoptable pet's foster home (Facetime or Zoom). Email us at GNARAnimalRescue@gmail.com and we will get you in direct contact with the volunteer who fosters the pet you are interested in. GNAR is all foster home based and volunteer run. We don't have a facility for visiting animals, but pets are fostered and socialized in home settings by volunteers. This makes our adoption process more personal, as every foster home knows their adoptable pets well, and keeps our overhead costs to a minimum. Email us at GNARAnimalRescue@gmail.com to foster, donate or volunteer. All adoptions require an application to be submitted and screened. After approval, payment of an adoption donation holds the pet for you. It takes about 2-3 days to complete the application process, from initial inquiry to pick up of the pet. Email us at GNARAnimalRescue@gmail.com to request an Adoption or Foster2Adopt application to be sent to you. All adoptions are conducted at a local pet store.
