Oxford's Story

FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60661
ESTIMATED DOB: 2022
COLOR/BREED: DSH, Orange Tabby
KIDS: Older
DOGS: Unknown
CATS: Yes

HISTORY:
Oxford was brought to a local shelter when his dad was diagnosed with cancer and had to move from their home.
ABOUT:
Oxford is a handsome, short-haired orange tabby with a heart as warm as his coat. About 3 years old and medium-sized, this sweet boy may be a little shy at first, but with a bit of patience he truly blossoms. In his foster home, Oxford quickly showed that while new situations can make him nervous initially, he’s gentle by nature—never aggressive, just politely asking for his boundaries to be respected. Once he feels safe, he turns into an affectionate companion who seeks out pets, purrs happily, and even makes biscuits to show his contentment.
Oxford loves human companionship and thrives on affection. He may not be a full lap cat, but he’s happiest curled up right next to you, especially on the bed or perched high on his beloved cat tree (or even the top of the fridge!). He enjoys medium-energy playtime with laser pointers, feather wands, and noisy balls, then balances it out with long naps and cuddle sessions. Oxford can be a bit chatty as he wanders around, so he’d do best in a quiet or somewhat quiet home where his gentle voice is appreciated.
He does well with other cats given a proper, respectful introduction and is currently coexisting peacefully—and even playfully—with a resident cat. Oxford would likely do fine with respectful children and may be okay with a calm, cat-savvy dog, though he hasn’t been tested with dogs yet. Easygoing about food, excellent with the litter box, and free of special medical needs, Oxford’s best feature is undoubtedly how loving he is once he trusts you. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who will happily keep you company and shower you with quiet devotion, Oxford might just be your perfect match. 🧡🐾

Interested in adding one of our adoptables to your family?
