Oscar's Story

Meet Oscar! Oscar is a stunning orange baby boy with the softest fur, the sweetest eyes and a heart full of resilience. At just 6 months old and weighing 6 1/2 pounds, this handsome domestic short hair kitten has already overcome more than most ever should. Oscar was found injured and thanks to the kindness of many caring humans, made his way safely to DHAR. When he first arrived, he tested positive for FIV, but a repeat test one month later confirmed he was actually NEGATIVE! He was also suffering from a severe fracture to his back left leg. With lots of love, patience, and incredible support from Four Paws Animal Hospital, Oscar healed beautifully and now has a clean bill of health. He is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations and neutered. He is ready to start the happy life he deserves. Oscar is a gentle, affectionate kitten who took a little time to adjust after leaving his private suite at Four Paws, but he is now thriving in his foster home. He loves being near his human and enjoys sharing space with his fellow foster friends. Once he feels safe, his playful side shines. He is full of kitten zoomies, toy chasing and adorable wrestling matches with other cats. He's also a champion bird and car watcher and can often be found perched by the window taking in the world. When playtime winds down, Oscar is happiest curled up on the couch enjoying quiet cuddle time and gentle pets from his foster human. Oscar enjoys toys, scratching posts and investigating anything that smells remotely like human food. He is fully litter trained and crate trained, allows nail trims and ear cleanings and handles routine care very well. He's not a fan of having his mouth handled. Because of his traumatic past, Oscar does need time and patience when meeting new people or experiencing new sounds. Loud noises, fast movements and the vacuum are not his favorite things. With a calm approach and consistency, his confidence continues to grow every day.
Oscar would do best in a quiet, slower paced home with another young cat or kitten to help him feel secure and give him a playtul companion. He doesn't mind dogs as long as they are calm, respectful and don't chase or get in his face. A home with older children who understand the
importance of going slow and letting Oscar set the pace would be ideal. This brave little orange boy has come so far, from injury and uncertainty to safety and healing. Now all he's missing is a loving family willing to give him patience, kindness and the forever home he's been waiting for. If you're looking for a sweet, gentle soul who will reward your love with trust, affection and quiet companionship, Oscar may be your perfect match!
#DoggoneHappyAnimalRescue
