Orange 's Story

Orange is just about one year old, as of March. His life started off hard. He came into foster care as a feral kitten who did not trust people and had only his siblings to rely on. Everything was scary, especially humans.

And then something beautiful happened. Orange decided to trust.

Today, he is the sweetest, most devoted lap cat in his foster home. The moment his person sits down, Orange climbs right into their lap and settles in like he has been waiting all day for that exact moment. He presses into you for pets, leans his whole body against you and looks up with complete trust. Once he bonds, he bonds deeply.

Because Orange started life feral, he still has some deep, rooted fear. He does not like being picked up and will bite, not out of aggression, but out of fear. In new situations and around strangers, he will hide. If you come for a meet and greet there is a strong chance you won’t even see him, as he will likely hide under the couch.

Orange needs a patient, cat savvy adopter who understands that former feral cats blossom with time, routine, and gentle handling. When given that space, he becomes incredibly loyal and affectionate.

He has only ever lived with other cats and would do best in a home with a friendly, confident resident cat who can help him adjust and show him that his new home is safe. A calm environment without a lot of chaos would help him settle in successfully.

Orange is not the cat who will perform for attention. He is the cat who will choose you. And when he does, it is something special.

If you are willing to give him patience and understanding, Orange will reward you with unwavering devotion and a permanent lap companion.

Adoption fee $200

* We do not allow same-day adoptions. * This is because we want our adopters to consider the commitment of owning a kitty. We are also a volunteer-run organization. We do not always have someone available to process the adoption agreement and medical records at the time of the in-person meet and greet. Thank you for understanding! Our goal is to process adoptions within 24-hours. So, if you have scheduled a meet and greet, you can help expedite the adoption process by sending us your walk through video of your home to our email address adoptions@mariospaw.org. Thank you!

What is covered in our adoption fee?

Mario's Paw felines come: Microchipped, Spayed/Neutered, FIV/FELV tested, UTD on age-appropriate vaccines, de-wormed, and flea-treated. * We do not permit any feline to be adopted without receiving a spay or neuter surgery. *

In addition to the above, your adoption fee helps us cover supplies, admin costs, and vet bills that arise with all of the kittens that come into our care. We take in many medical cases that require extra surgeries such as eye enucleations and amputations, specialist visits, and imaging. Because of the adoption fees, we are able to bring in more medically needy felines!

If interested in adopting a pair of kittens, please note that on your application as priority is given to those adopting a pair!

The adoption application can be filled out here: https://forms.gle/zR62zNUFx23eYU647

If you are interested, our adoption process consists of:
- a submitted application
- meet-and-greet in-person
- video walk through of the main areas of your home
- feline medical records sent via email
- signed adoption agreement
- application fee submitted via Zelle

For more photos and videos, visit our social media pages!
Facebook.com/mariospawrescue
Instagram.com/mariospawanimalrescue/
Tiktok.com/@mariospawrescue
