Onyx's Story

Onyx is a domestic short haired, solid black, neutered male young cat with a date of birth of April 10, 2025. Onyx is the brother to Brooke and Lux. Onyx's mom Opal was accepted into the rescue extremely pregnant where Opal gave birth indoors to Onyx and his 6 siblings, and 4 of these siblings have been adopted. Onyx has a few naughty antics like unrolling toilet paper or tossing or batting the cloth cat toys into the water bowl. However, the appeal of unrolling toilet paper has lost some of its attraction. Onyx likes to be out with his humans and the other resident cats so will meow to be released from the kitten room. Onyx will also play "fetch" with a fuzzy ball cat toy, but he needs to initiate the play by bringing the toy to you and then while you throw he will watch the toy leave your hand and run after it. Onyx is good for about 5 tosses of fetch, and then he is done, but sometimes he will bring a different toy a little later for you to throw and the fetch game is re-set.

Onyx can be adopted with one of his siblings or go to a home with another young, active and playful cat. If an adopter would like to adopt Onyx with one of his siblings, then the adoption fee is half price for one sibling for a total of $225 rather than $150 each. A home where Onyx is the only cat will also be considered since he is a confident cat and can amuse himself in your absence. Onyx has meet a few older children ages 10 to 16, and did reasonably well with them.

Neutered; current on vaccinations including rabies; negative for both feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus; dewormed; litter box trained; and microchipped.

Far North Feline Rescue's Adoption Policy
Initial contact is usually made via email. Potential adopters are asked to provide basic information such as if they rent or own their residence; have any other pets in the household; have any children in the household; and if they are an established client with a veterinary clinic. Answers to these questions help us determine the best fit for them among the cats available for adoption. Then a meet and greet is set up for that cat in the foster home where more questions can be asked, and the adopter and cat interaction can be observed. Our adoption process is NOT that the first one to contact us is the one who gets to adopt the kitten/cat, and that can be difficult for certain potential adopters to accept. Our goal is to put the kitten or cat in the right home the first time. We allow for a 2 week trial period and the cat or kitten can then be returned to us without judgment and the adoption fee refunded.
