Obie's Story

Obie is currently in foster care and ready for adoption via our virtual process!

Obie, a two-year-old male, just arrived and is still getting settled in, so we're just beginning to learn who they are. Right now, everything is new-new people, new sounds, new routines-and we're giving them time to relax, decompress, and show us their true personality at their own pace.

Here's what we know so far about his time in foster care: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11B0ZY9r_rh6kUTwcrv52jLLSg3qF0F-C/view?usp=drive_link

Obie is a sweet and handsome boy. His foster says "He loves lounging near his people and getting face pets, and has found his playful side. He is a sweet and silly boy who is relaxed with those he knows, just needs a little time to get comfortable with new people. He is very loving- will start purring just seeing us and follow us around the house. He likes to nap wherever we are, and is also adorably playful now that he's settled in. By the second day he was seeking pets and purring. He still gets startled easily and will retreat, but seeks out love often and alternates relaxing on the floor near us with napping under the bed. He has started to play with toys and get playful, but his general temperament is calm and quiet. He is clearly a sweetheart but still a little scared by the world-- I think he needs some more time in one place to decompress and get truly comfortable. He is so sweet and loves to be pet, you can just see him bloom in real time and start to gain confidence. He loves to stretch all the way out on the floor, legs fully extended and just chill like that right at our feet like a dog. He's also really cute when he plays with his mouse- he's great at playing by himself. He is so gentle and affectionate. He loves attention and also loves to just be near us. It's been so rewarding to watch him relax and blossom."

He has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and has had preventative treatments to ensure he is ready for his next steps.

Submit an adoption survey from above and our team will reach out via phone or email (check spam) to schedule a counseling call. For any additional questions, please contact fosternyc@bestfriends.org.

Please remember, pets cannot be held or reserved.
