Nutella's Story

Nutella is a domestic short haired, brown tabby, spayed female cat with an estimated date of birth of late July 2021. Nutella was live trapped from a managed cat colony in the Detroit Lakes, MN area in late fall 2021 before the brutal upper Midwest winter and snowstorms. Nutella is a likely full sibling to Zoey, and half sibling/first cousin to fellow colony mate Punkin. This group of cats are affectionately referred to as the "colony tabbies", and Nutella can easily be adopted with either of these colony mates if looking to adopt a pair of adult cats. Nutella is best suited in a home with another cat companion. Adoption as the only pet in the household will also be considered.

Nutella is cautious but curious of new people so an adopter will need patience and understanding during the transition to a new home. She is friendly and affectionate once comfortable with you, but she has grown more confident in meeting and approaching new people. Of the 3 colony tabbies, Nutella was the hardest "nut" to crack in terms of socialization and adapting to life as an indoor cat, but she is loving the climate-controlled environment, guaranteed food source, and access to veterinarian care. Nutella is very food and treat motivated, especially with canned pate', and that is one way to win her heart with her favorite treats.

Spayed; current on vaccinations; litter box trained; microchipped; and negative for both feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. Unknown with dogs or children.

Far North Feline Rescue's Adoption Policy
Initial contact is usually made via email. Potential adopters are asked to provide basic information such as if they rent or own their residence; have any other pets in the household; have any children in the household; and if they are an established client with a veterinary clinic. Answers to these questions help us determine the best fit for them among the cats available for adoption. Then a meet and greet is set up for that cat in the foster home where more questions can be asked, and the adopter and cat interaction can be observed. Our adoption process is NOT that the first one to contact us is the one who gets to adopt the kitten/cat, and that can be difficult for certain potential adopters to accept. Our goal is to put the kitten or cat in the right home the first time. We allow for a 2 week trial period and the cat or kitten can then be returned to us without judgment and the adoption fee refunded.
