Nova's Story
Nova (about 5 months old as of 2/24) is a spayed female black and white tuxedo shorthaired kitten. Nova and her siblings were caught at about 6 weeks old during a trap neuter return project in Island Lake. Normally this is the perfect age to get feral kittens and turn them around, but these kittens were kept totally isolated from the people who fed their feral parents and were super distrustful of humans. It has taken a lot of work but now they all purr like freight trains, however they are a lot more shy around strangers and easy to spook than most kittens fostered from such a young age. Nova was very shy to start with but she has always had an intense passion for play which helped her bond with people quickly. Once she figured out people were really good at making her toys move it wasn't long before she decided it was really great when they petted her, too, and she was the first kitten in her litter to come running to people when they wiggled their fingers for her. Don't worry about her feistiness for toys though, Nova is always super gentle with her claws and teeth. She adores other cats would like to be adopted with another young playful cat or another kitten like her twin brother Branch. She was fostered around a large dog and would do fine with a really calm dog, but because she is a little more shy we think she'd do best in a quieter home without really hyper dogs or loud toddlers.
