NIKA's Story

Meet Nika! This long-haired stunner spent a short time in foster with her kittens, and we discovered many things about her personality. She LOVED her 10-year old cat savvy human foster brother. Given the space to feel safe, she was eating her favorite Churu treats out of his hand on the second day. Nika’s favorite spot was a built in bookshelf about 5.5 feet up; she loves a good nap in the sun; and she also likes some quiet observation time from underneath the bed. She seemed very interested in looking out the window but she also chose to lay at her foster mom’s feet while she worked in the room. When she needed to be enclosed in the room with her kittens, her intelligence and ingenuity presented as she looked for ways to open the door, yet she self-settled after a few minutes. Nika kept a clean litter box and she was the most polite guest by keeping her scratching to her cat tower and scratch pad. She may present as shy and guarded when you first meet her. She would do best in a home whose occupants understand her behavior and body language and who are willing to give her decompression time and space. Once she trusts you, you’re in the Nika club and she will gift you with her loving and sweet personality. Nika is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Nika or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.
