Nightingale's Story

Hi, my name is Nightingale! I'm a GREEN pawprint, which means I will fit in well to any home. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Chatty, affectionate, easy-going
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, likely OK with slow and structured introduction
-Can Live with Dogs: Unknown history, likely OK with slow and structured introduction
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history, OK with kids 10+, exceptions made on counselor's discretion
-Needs Indoor Only Home: Very strongly encouraged for his safety, and the safety of local wildlife
-History of Litter Box Issues: He has sprayed a couple times here in the shelter, but is good with his litterbox otherwise. This problem is usually solved by neutering the cat, although it is not a guarantee.
-Energy Level: Medium to high
-Bite History: No
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a neuter and microchip

Nightingale is a great big bundle of love. He came in as a stray, and likely has been living outside for quite some time. While much of his history is unknown, he's not been shy about his big personality here at the shelter. He his confident and affectionate and really loves attention. His male hormones are clearly doing their thing: he's a bit sensitive in the tail and would prefer it be left alone, and has had a couple good scent sprays in this cat-filled environment (and don't forget those big adorable tom cheeks!). Generally, these issues are resolved with a neuter, so ideally he won't bring that behavior home, but we simply cannot be certain for now. All things considered, he's a easy-going guy who's ready to shower his new family in affection!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
