Newman's Story

Newman was found wandering near Lindy’s Lake. He approached a kind woman on her deck and she cared for him for a few weeks. She wished to keep Newmie after having no luck in finding his family, but her resident cat did not approve.

Our buddy Newman is about 10 years old and loves to chat with us about his day. He is happiest with people and always seeks petting and affection from our volunteers. Some of Newman’s whiskers have small crinkles in them, and we love the unique personality it gives him.

When he is ready to nap, Newman may deem your lap as the best bed in sight. He is a cuddly boy and simply wants to receive the same love he gives to us. If you would like to see if this tabby is right for you, come visit soon.

Stop by to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our cats. We do not adopt first come; we always select the best placement for our animals. Please call your veterinarian to permit them to speak with us for our vet check. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you are allowed to have a cat.

Our adoption fee is $50 for cats. This includes FIV/FeLV testing, flea/tick preventatives, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines, and spay/neuter if six months or older. If they are too young, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.

For more info on our shelter and available pets, check us out online:

West Milford Animal Shelter Society
Lycosky Drive, West Milford, NJ 07480
(973) 728-2859

Visiting Hours
Mon - Fri: 10 - 1
Wed Night: 7:30 - 9
Weekends: 10 - 3
