Nena-In Foster

Meet Nena! After spending time in foster care raising her kittens (who are also up for adoption), this sweet mama is ready to be the one getting all the attention. Her foster dad shared that Nena was a little shy at first, but it didn't take long for her personality to shine. Once she felt comfortable, she turned into an incredibly sweet and affectionate girl. Nena comes when she's called, greets you when you walk into the room, and will happily trot over to say hello with the softest little chirps and meows - almost like she's having a conversation with you. She's quiet, gentle, and very loving. Nena adores pets and neck rubs, and she'll give you the cutest head boops to politely ask for more attention. She has such a tender way about her that makes every interaction feel special. She's done an amazing job raising her babies - now it's her turn to be spoiled.<br/><br/>Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully.<br/><br/>Ready to Adopt?<br/><br/>You have two options:<br/><br/>#1- VISIT IN PERSON<br/>Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You'll be able to meet available cats in the shelter.<br/>(Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.)<br/><br/>#2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD**<br/>If you're ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you'd like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours.<br/><br/>**Holds are not available on Saturdays and during adoption events.<br/>--------------------------------------------<br/>All cat adoption fees include;<br/>-spay/neuter<br/>-rabies vaccine<br/>-current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)<br/>-FeLV/FIV blood test<br/>-microchip implanted & registered to the adopter<br/>-treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites<br/>-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin<br/>-free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians<br/>Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
