Nellie's Story

Meet Nellie!!
Nellie is an approximately 1 year old black domestic short hair. She is full grown and weighs 7.5 pounds. She came into the rescue in mid-October after walking into her foster parent’s garage. All of the efforts were made to reunite her with her owners but with zero luck.
Nellie is extremely affectionate with people. She gets along great with other cats and tolerates dogs. She can easily live in a home with dogs who don’t care about cats, but she does tend to hiss at them if they get too close. However, this has gotten much better while in her foster home. She has done great with a feeding routine and has had no issues with using a litter box.
When Nellie was found she had a major skin infection on her stomach. After a few rounds of antibiotics and steroids she is healed up and ready to find her new home!

Nellie's adoption fee is $75 and she will come fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Helping Paws, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
We are only able to adopt to families who reside in Indiana at this time. We have approved volunteers in this state only, who are able to support our adoption process and travel within 100 miles of Indianapolis. A completed application is required to initiate the adoption process. Remember to complete the entire application; leaving blanks will only delay the process. If you rent, please include landlords name and phone number. Also, please include your vets phone number, not just their name. The application is free to submit. Our Adoption Process The steps in our adoption process are outlined below. Our adoption process is slow and serious. We are dedicated to finding the RIGHT home for all of our dogs, so we are diligent and take our time. It is not a first come, first serve scenario. 1. You complete an Adoption Application and submit it to us. You can view our available foster dogs here. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, the adoption application is the first step. Because we are volunteer only and do not have a facility, an approved application is required before we can move forward with any meet and greets. 2. Our adoption team will process your application by contacting your veterinarian and personal references. 3. If things progress appropriately and your application is approved, we will set up a meet and greet with the dog and do a home visit at that time. 4. If the home visit goes well, we will move forward with when the dog will come and stay. With dogs over 6 months old or puppies with special needs, we do offer trial adoptions where you are able to see how the dog fits into your family before finalizing the adoption. *Please note that cats and pets adopted outside of the Indianapolis metro area do not qualify for trial adoptions. 5. Before finalizing the adoption, you will need to pay the adoption fee. Adoption fees vary from dog to do and will be listed on their individual bios. 6. Upon finalizing the adoption of your new family member, you will need to sign HP’s adoption contract which will be provided to you at the finalization.
