Neela 's Story

Hi there, my name is Neela. I’ve had a REALLY hard life before these people rescued me even though I’m only 2 years old. You see, I was rescued from a hoarding case. My previous owners had countless cats, and we lived in a disgusting environment. Over 50 of my kitty family members were found dead. I was lucky to make it out alive.

Understandably, I was terrified of people when I made it out of there. I’d never known safety, kindness, or even having a consistent meal. With time, love, and snacks (my FAVORITE thing) I’ve learned to love people and my life! I love to sunbathe, look out the window, play with toys, etc. I have also learned the sound of the snack drawer being opened, and I will come RUNNING! I’ll even lick the Churu treats off your hand. I let my foster mommy pet me while I eat snacks, but I’m still too nervous to let her pet me without snacks. I will always come over and sniff her finger though and meow at her. My foster mommy says I’m being very brave though for what I went through, so she thinks one day I’ll let her pet me without snacks!

As for kitty siblings, I can be scared of them especially at first. Where I grew up it was brutal with the limited space and supplies, so other cats were rarely nice to me. I’m interested in other cats, but when they approach me I get nervous in case they’re going to attack me. But I have a foster brother who I’ve grown to love, we play and I will even groom him. I also have a doggy in my home that I’m fine with as long as he’s calm. I’ll even go up to him and sniff him despite him being a huge boxer!

Will you please take a chance on me and be my first real family? If you’re patient with me I promise I’ll be a good girl and love you lots (and eat all your snacks). I also love to hang out in bed with you while you watch TV and make biscuits. I love hanging out right next to my favorite person.

United Paws Rescue Inc's Adoption Policy
First we make sure that the adopter is a proper match for the cat, through conversations with their foster parent and/or a meet and greet. We are very careful to match the personality of the cat with the personality of all other humans and animals in the home to ensure a smooth transition for both the cat and the adopters. Then, the adopter fills out the application- if they pass the home and vet checks they proceed to a short phone interview. If approved, they pay their adoption fee and can take the kitty home that same day.
