NANI's Story
NANI: The Silent Putter (Until You Pet Her)!
Meet Nani, a gorgeous 10-month-old Calico who has mastered the art of camouflage... especially around the neighborhood cat bullies. She’s currently operating in stealth mode because the other kitties are big and scary!

But here’s her secret weapon: When she feels safe, her engine starts! We hear her hard, non-stop purr from across the room. She’s a shy girl with the motor of a monster truck!

Nani’s Mission: To be rescued ASAP so she can trade her anxiety for affection and turn that hidden purr into a full-time job.

She’s sweet, she’s adorable, and she's ready to be your amazing, purring shadow. Give this deserving girl a quiet space and she'll give you a lifetime of rumbling love.

Ready to unleash the purr power?

NANI the girl who was this close to being a "career outdoor cat" until she accidentally left her microphone on. We were planning to spay and release her, but then we heard it: a purr so loud it practically rattled the windows. The secret was out—Nani isn’t a street cat; she’s a professional cuddler in disguise.

The Tea
The Scandal: She’s a total flirt. Currently living in a "communal living" situation with five other free-roaming cats, and she is always hanging out with the boys. She’s basically the star of her own feline reality dating show.

The Talent: That purr. It’s not just a sound; it’s an engine. She used it to trick us into keeping her inside, and honestly? It worked.

The Vibe: Social, sassy, and ready to be the center of your universe (especially if you have other male cats for her to swoon over).

Why Nani?
She traded the rough life for the "Roommate Life" and she’s never looking back. If you’re looking for a girl with a big personality and an even bigger purr, Nani is the one.

Nani: She came for the food, but she stayed for the boys (and the blankets).

Are you tired of filling out the long applications? Did no one get back to you? If they did, was the cat was already adopted?

We do things the way we want to here at Save Our Strays. I was told no to adopting a cat before, from a very big shelter, for a foolish reason. I know how you feel and all the BS-some of those applications ask. Facts: You can not predict the future through a questionnaire. We are all adults; If you have another cat they need to be up to date on vaccines and combo tested for FeLV & FIV before you adopt. FIV is nothing but FeLV is sadly and those cats should be only kitties. Cats with FeLV look the same as any other cat, they can live many years and not become sick.

I will tell you all my same spiel I tell everyone else, if you adopt from us. Do not declaw your cat, if the cat is sick- have enough money to take them to the vet. If you ever need me, call me. We talk to you and ask questions ourselves and we know the cats well. If we think it is not going to work out, we will let you know. Everyone who is able and willing, deserves the companionship of a cat. It's an art that we have purfected here! Most of the cats are in the shelter, all in one place. We take you around to the different rooms and then you & yours can go and visit where you want too. Seems simple right? Well, it is! Bring your own carrier just encase you do pick a new BFF. All you have to do is schedule an appointment.

Adopting from us supports a small rescue and immediately opens the door for another one to be saved. We get zero funding and are WAY BETTER than the big shelters. Most of them do not give the FVRCP vaccine or combo test /microchip, so be aware who you are choosing from. We know our cats and allow you to pet and visit with many kitties, at one time. We are a one stop shop here at Save Our Strays Pittsburgh.

If you’re interested in meeting NANI, email SOS at saveourstrays.pgh@gmail.com or call/text (412) 863-0064 to arrange your visit.
During your visit, feel free to spend time with the cat you want to meet, but also take a look around. We always have cats with a wide variety of ages, coat patterns/lengths, and personalities. High energy antics? You bet. Couch potatoes? Check. Sweet, purring snugglers? Roger that. And please don’t overlook the shy wallflower who keeps glancing your way—introverts need love too. Often times, a cat is simply overwhelmed with their new rescue
environment and will blossom in a calmer home environment. Spend some time with our cats, watch them interact with each other and with you, and get their “vibe.” You’ll know the right cat—sometimes you choose and sometimes they choose you.

Since 2020, SOS has rescued and adopted more than 1,300 stray cats in the Pittsburgh area. Included in our adoption fee is full vetting. All of our cats are dewormed, have received Capstar for any flea issues and Selamectin for any parasites, received two FVRCP vaccines as well as their rabies vaccine, are treated for ear mites (if needed), are combo tested for FeLV and FIV, and are microchipped which will transfer to you. Once the adult cats are fully vetted and vaccinated, they freely roam across two floors and (Pittsburgh weather permitting…) also spend time in an outside Catio to soak up the sunshine.
We also have a free-roaming room for the fully vetted kittens to play, run, and practice their fancy acrobatics and sideways kitten shuffles.

SOS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our adoption fee, along with donations, allow us to tend to our rescued cats in the manner in which they deserve: fully vetted and fully cared for. We also allocate funds to continue TNR (trap, neuter, and release) efforts for all of the strays who are too unsocialized and human-adverse for an indoor home. By spaying/neutering, these
cats live a healthier life and no longer contribute to increasing the stray cat population.

When you adopt a cat from SOS, you’re doing more than giving a cat a good home. You’re also helping those stray cats who cannot be homed. One cat’s adoption improves multiple cats’ lives.

About SOSs Founder: Faon traps, rescues, and gives shelter to the SOS cats; they reside on the upper two floors of her home which have been modified to best meet the cats’ needs. She is extremely knowledgeable about each cat in her care and is happy to assist you finding the one who best matches your lifestyle and your home. She, along with a small team of dedicated women volunteers, work with SOS cats who have been rescued from a wide range of outside scenarios (some being outright deplorable) and transform them through veterinary care, socialization and behavioral work, and a whole lot of love into happy, healthy, and thriving cats.

Email SOS at saveourstrays.pgh@gmail.com or call/text (412) 863-0064 to arrange your visit.

Your new best friend is waiting for you
