Mufasa-CUDDLY! FIV+'s Story
If you would like an application or have any questions, please send an email to us at:
info@ht-ac.org

Mufasa was rescued as a stray from the streets of New Britain in November. A kind woman had been feeding him in her yard for several years. He would cry to come in during the cold winter months, and she would let him in for a while to warm up, but couldn't keep him and sadly would have to put him back outside.
Mufasa is an extremely friendly, affectionate, laid-back guy who loves to be picked up and held. He will follow his people around, and wants to get ALL the attention! He is chatty and loves to play-catnip toys are his absolute favorite! He enjoys the company of other cats, as long as they are welcoming and not aggressive. Mufasa is a gentle giant, and prefers to avoid conflicts.
He is 4 years old, and has been neutered, vaccinated for rabies & distemper, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV. Unfortunately, he has tested positive for FIV. Many FIV+ cats live long, healthy lives, and we hope that this will be the case for Mufasa. FIV cannot be transmitted to humans or any animals other than cats. FIV cannot be transmitted to other cats through casual contact, such as sharing food & water bowls, litter boxes, mutual grooming, etc. When cats are neutered, FIV is typically only transmitted through deep bite wounds, and cats that are compatible typically do not bite each other hard enough to draw blood. If you have any questions about FIV, please send an email, and we will be happy to answer them. His adoption fee is $200.
