Mr. Gidion's Story

Gidion is a short haired neutered male DOB 3/3/16

This boy is a sweetie!!! He is gentle and just a kind boy looking for a home and a lap or two to lay on. Give him a home and he will give you all the love you need!!!

He is currently at Pet Supplies Plus in Howell if you want to stop by and say HI

He doesn't seem to be bothered by any dogs or cats. Just loves to be with people and other animals. He just loves life and really is a sweet boy. <3

Gidion was found outside in Flint. He had upper respiratory infection and a cherry eye. He is no longer sick and his cherry eye was fixed. The family who found him really stepped up and did a lot to help him until they could get him into a rescue. <3

He is fixed, UTD on vaccines and dewormed. He has tested negative for Feline Leukemia, positive for FIV. We have a "myth" sheet to the left to read up on it. Cats with FIV can live normal lives. We'd love to have someone give him a chance. <3 Adoption fee $150

If you are interested in this pet, please fill out our pre-adopt application on our website under Adoptable Pets (copy link below). It is typically transmitted from one cat to another through a deep bite wound. There are a lot of myths and misunderstandings about FIV. Let’s break down some of the myths and rumors:

FIV myths

MYTH
My other cats will get FIV from eating out of the same bowls or sleeping with a FIV+ cat.
TRUTH
FIV is only transmitted through blood transfusions, serious penetrating bite wounds, or intercourse.
Other cats cannot get FIV through casual contact a FIV + cat.

MYTH
Cats with FIV don’t live long and require special care.
TRUTH
Many FIV+ cats live long, healthy lives. They can live their entire life without ever coming down with any symptoms of FIV. As long as they are not exposed to any other virus or bacteria that their weakened immune system can’t handle, they can live healthy, normal lives. For this reason, cats with FIV should be kept indoors, fed a balanced, nutritionally complete diet, and should see a vet twice per year.

MYTH
My dogs or children are at risk of contracting FIV.
TRUTH
FIV is a species-specific disease. It cannot be transmitted to humans or any other animal.
Your dog, horse, iguana, or gerbil cannot contract FIV.
