Mouse's Story

Introducing sweet gentleman Mouse!

Mouse can be a bit timid at first, but he's very quick to warm up to new people. He will practically throw himself at your feet for pets! He will gently use his paws to guide your hand to his head to make sure you are hitting his favorite position behind his ears. He can be more cautious warming up to new spaces, and prefers to have a safe spot aka "mouse house", like a covered cat bed to retreat to when he's feeling shy.

Once Mouse is comfortable, he will politely put a hand on your knee or put his head over the arm of your chair quietly and "ask" if he can come into your lap for more pets like the true gentleman he is! For being so sweet and polite, he can also be very playful. He loves balls, feather toys and occasionally you can even catch him chasing his tail.

Mouse can be a bit drooly, especially when he is enthusiastically receiving pets, but has no current need for dental extractions. He is estimated to be about 2.5 years old and has been neutered, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV-/FeLV+ (progressive). This chronic illness doesn't currently affect Mouse's daily life much; however, the FeLV virus may eventually affect his health and lifespan, as FeLV impairs the cat's immune system. Becoming established with a vet supportive of treating an FeLV+ cat, controlling secondary infections, and treating other illnesses as they arise is essential to maintaining an FeLV+ kitty. He would love to have another cat companion if you have a resident FeLV+ cat or are interested in adopting him with a FeLV+ friend!

Trash Cat Rescue's Adoption Policy
Typically the potential adopter reaches out either with or without a specific cat in mind. We will usually ask questions about the type of cat the adopter is interested in (any preferences as far as gender, color, personality, etc.), as well as the sort of home the cat would be going to (any kids, other pets, etc.). If we have a cat or kitten who would be a good fit, the adopter can fill out our application for that animal. If not, the person can still fill out the app, and we will keep them if mind if we end up with a cat who we think would be a good fit. Once the app is reviewed/approved (including checking vet and landlord references), we would chat any further with the adopter if needed, and then schedule a meet and greet with them with the cat or kitten. If the animal and the adopter hit it off, the adopter would then fill out our adoption agreement, pay the adoption fee, and take the cat or kitten home!
