Moose's Story
Hi, I'm Moose, and I have the distinction of being the longest resident in the cat adoption room at HAWS and with my stay, my fan club has been growing daily among the cat cuddler volunteers. I can't tell you how many times I've been told by them "I love your blue eyes and your sleepy-looking face" or "those nose freckles are so cute." So I ask you to come meet me and see for yourself! The other common remark they say is "I wish I could take you home but I can't because I have a cat already." As much as I enjoy seeing the other cats in the room, I can't be with them because I have FeLV, a virus that is spread through casual, social behavior like grooming or sharing litterboxes and dishes. And since I have FeLV, I can't live with another cat unless they also have FeLV, so I understand why my cat cuddlers can't adopt me but I appreciate all their attention as I wait for my forever home.

I love my cat cuddlers, but I sure would like a home to call my own where I will be loved and safe. I am a calm guy looking for a quiet home to be an only kitty or a companion to another FeLV cat (but please make sure we are properly introduced.) I was found outside and I never want to experience that again. The HAWS vet thinks during my days outside, I probably contracted FIV too. Don't be afraid of those letters (because I'm not) and let me explain. Neither FeLV or FIV viruses are transmitted to people or dogs. FIV is mainly passed from cat to cat through deep bite wounds...which can happen when you live outdoors and have to protect your food or space. I am liking my safe space at HAWS, an orange box ... but maybe a little too much! I won't come out of it to greet you at my front door when you come to meet me. That doesn't mean I'm not friendly because I am, I'm just shy now. You can pet or brush me while I stay in my box. My cat cuddlers are getting me to play a little and enjoy lickable treats. When we go to a meeting room, don't be surprised if I don't pop out of my box ... you need patience, but I assure you I am worth it! I hope you will fall in love with my mellowness.

If you are thinking of adding a sweet, calm guy to your home, why not me?! I will be forever grateful and repay you with my unconditional love! Perhaps I've had a hard life until coming to HAWS, but my spirit is unbreakable and I know there is a kind person or couple out there to give me the sweet life I deserve. Could it be you? Please come meet me today!
