Monty - See My Video!'s Story

Mister Monty is a very sweet and gentle old man. Estimated to be at least 10 years old, he was humanely captured in West Brattleboro where there are several established community cat colonies. Monty was frequently bullied by the other cats and had several wounds to address upon intake. There are older healed wounds as well as is evident by scarring, especially around his head.

Despite the rough conditions he came from, Monty has adjusted super well to indoor life. He LOVES soft beds, especially heated beds. He also enjoys being brushed, though he is still getting used to it. He is fully litter box trained and is used to a pine pellet bedding alternative litter. He has not shown much interest in toys yet, but that may very well change once in his furever home.

Since in our care, Monty has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and overall his blood work results were within normal range. The one exception were values indicating Monty is in stage two kidney disease. To support his health, Monty is on a prescription kidney diet and will be for the remainder of his life. He does not currently receive any medications.

Our vet also noted that Monty will need dental care as several of his teeth are broken and will likely need to be extracted. We are currently fundraising in the hopes to help offset the cost of his needed dental work, but at this time we don't have the funds available.

Every day Monty continues to show his super friendly nature, and he always greets us with happy meows at meal time. With appropriate introductions, he would likely do well with another cat, especially a female or a male that is super relaxed and gentle. Being an older gentleman, Monty would not do well in a home with small children, but older gentle children would be fine. Monty still needs to be tested with dogs, so for now he won't be available to a home with dogs, especially large, energetic, and rowdy pups.

We are so happy we were able to save this boy from the streets, and we cannot wait for him to find his furever home to enjoy retirement life.

Interested in Monty?
