Monica was a stray in NE Iowa back in June 2011 when we took her in. She was 1-1/2 years old at the time. She was adopted in July 2012. Monica's adoptive mom died recently and her dad is moving and cannot keep her. Monica was already spayed, is up to date on shots, and tested negative for FeLV / FIV back in 2011.
Monica is about 14-1/2 years old now as of January 2024. She is living in a foster home.
Monica has no bathroom issues and always uses the litter box. No health issues at all. She does have “Big Eyes”…her pupils are naturally always dilated but her vision is fine. She was most likely born this way as we tested her for everything and she does not have high blood pressure nor a detached retina.
She is a cuddle bug. A little overweight. Friendly. She is a sweet quiet and gentle girl. Very easy going.
Please open your heart and your home to Monica and give her a true forever home.
10/7/23 UPDATE: After 7 months of trying, Monica has made it clear that she does not like other cats. Her foster mom set things up properly, went slow, started over many times, and Monica may have done well with cats when she was younger, but does not want to be around them now as an old lady, lol. Monica loves people, loves to be petted. You have to be careful; she likes to rub on legs and will trip you because she is so friendly, lol. Monica enjoys being where you are and will follow you around. If you are lonely and needing a best friend, Monica would be perfect!
10/12/23 UPDATE: Monica went to a new foster home with an area where she can be alone with no other cats. She will be much happier there!
10/13/23 UPDATE: Just thought I’d let you know Monica is doing great, especially for her first day here. She dove right into her food with no hesitation, and figured out where her litter boxes, water bowl, etc. were located with no problem. Now she’s just lounging in a favorite bed she quickly claimed. Already made herself at home.
10/15/23 UPDATE: Monica is such a sweetheart. Very easygoing, just happy knowing people are nearby, and shows it by constantly purring. She loves a good bird-watching window, and that's where she spends most of her time when there's no lap to curl up in. Monica has proven she could step right into any home, bond with her people, and adjust immediately!
Monica's adoption fee is $50.00.
WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to email@example.com
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office
