Molly's Story
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.

Apply to adopt with our online cat application: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form4/index.html

Please go to our web-site to learn more about Waverly Pet Rescue: www.waverlypetrescue.com

Molly originally was a stray kitten from Waterloo in 2014 that Waverly Pet Rescue adopted to a home that same year. She was returned in August 2025 because her person had to go to assisted living and could not take Molly with her, Molly was dearly loved over the last 11 years and was very bonded to her owner. Molly is up to date on vaccines, tested FeLV/FIV negative, and spayed in the past. She is back living in a foster home.

Molly was born around April 2014 so is now about 12 years old of Jan. 2026. Molly is overweight at 17 pounds, and her foster mom is helping her with a weight loss program so she can slowly lose weight. Having her lose weight, wil also help her move around better and be able to groom herself again. Molly was scared when she first came back and I am sure very confused. It is hard on a cat to lose their home. Foster mom set her up in one room alone and now after 3 months, Molly is started to meow/talk a little and approach the foster mom to be petted. To heal a broken heart a cat needs love, space, quiet, patience, and care. To let the cat go at their own pace is best. Molly will require that in a new home when she gets adopted again someday. When scared, she will run again and hide. She has not met any other foster cats yet, will update this once she has. Probably best to not have any children or dogs in the home. She needs a quiet home with not a lot of activity. She is a sweet girl once she starts to trust you so needs someone able to give her many months to settle into their home.

Molly's adoption fee is $95.00.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office
