Two absolutely stunning solid-white sisters with very different personalities, one incredible bond, and enough sweetness between them to give you a toothache.<br/><br/>These girls were found living outside an HVAC company—a far too dangerous place for two little kittens to be trying to survive. At one point, it was thought that Mochi might not ever be adoptable, which is why you'll notice the tip of one of her ears.<br/><br/>Thankfully, Mochi had other plans. <br/><br/> Meringue — The Social Butterfly<br/><br/>Meringue is the fluffy sister, with gorgeous long white hair and a face you're probably going to stare at for an inappropriate amount of time.<br/><br/>And then there are those eyes.<br/><br/>Meringue has heterochromia, which simply means her eyes are two different colors—one brilliant blue and one beautiful yellow. It's a naturally occurring difference in pigmentation, and paired with that long, snow-white coat, the result is pretty spectacular.<br/><br/>Basically, Mother Nature got a little fancy with this one.<br/><br/>Meringue is the social butterfly of the pair—the attention seeker, the people lover, and the sister most likely to decide that whatever you're doing would be significantly improved by petting her.<br/><br/>She's outgoing, affectionate and wonderfully sweet.<br/><br/>She's also exactly the kind of sister Mochi needs by her side.<br/><br/> Mochi — The Tender Heart<br/><br/>Mochi has medium-length snow-white fur, two striking blue eyes, and one tipped ear that tells just a tiny piece of her story.<br/><br/>She's still scared of this big world.<br/><br/>But Mochi is a little different from the shy kitten who simply needs to be left alone until she decides to come around. If given the choice, Mochi would probably keep choosing the safety of her hiding spot—and she needs a family willing to gently help her learn that being loved is safe.<br/><br/>Around here, we call it “forced cuddles.”<br/><br/>Not chasing her around the room. Not overwhelming her. Not ignoring when she's truly distressed.<br/><br/>We're talking about calm, intentional handling: gently scooping her up, tucking her somewhere safe and cozy against you, and giving her the affection she isn't quite brave enough to ask for yet.<br/><br/>Because here's the amazing part:<br/><br/>The second you have her safely tucked close, she purrs.<br/><br/>This little girl wants to be loved oh so badly.<br/><br/>Her fear tells her to run before her heart gets the chance to discover how good affection feels. She needs someone patient enough to keep showing her, over and over, that hands can be gentle and laps can be safe.<br/><br/>Those little “forced cuddles” are going to be an important part of helping Mochi continue to progress.<br/><br/>And with Meringue—and hopefully a few friendly feline role models—there to show her how wonderful life with humans can be, we think she's going to blossom into something incredibly special.<br/><br/> Their Perfect Home<br/><br/>Mochi and Meringue would LOVE having other friendly kitties around. A confident, social resident cat could be especially wonderful for Mochi as she learns the rhythms of life inside a loving home.<br/><br/>They can also live with calm, cat-friendly dogs who understand that kittens don't need to be chased or crowded, and older, gentle kids who can respect Mochi's need for patience while still participating in helping her learn to trust.<br/><br/>What these girls really need is a peaceful, patient home with a whole lot of love to give.<br/><br/>They'll need a true slow decompression when they arrive: a small safe room, predictable routines, cozy hiding places, yummy snacks and plenty of time to adjust.<br/><br/>But with Mochi, slow decompression doesn't mean zero interaction.<br/><br/>She needs that balance between having a safe place to retreat and having humans who will gently bring her out of her comfort zone. Sit with her. Talk to her. Offer treats. Pick her up for those little cuddle sessions. Let her purr against you. Then give her time to process it all.<br/><br/>Meringue will probably wonder why you're taking so long to adore her.<br/><br/>Mochi will need you to show her that it's okay to be adored.<br/><br/>Again.<br/><br/>And again.<br/><br/>And again.<br/><br/>Until one day, hopefully, she realizes she doesn't need to be convinced anymore.<br/><br/>Meringue is ready to love you.<br/>Mochi is learning how.<br/><br/>We're looking for the family willing to love them both exactly where they are—and put in the extra little bit of work Mochi needs to discover just how sweet indoor life can be.<br/><br/>Mochi & Meringue: all the sweet, none of the calories—and definitely best served together. <br/><br/>Our adoption fee is $650! They are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines (age appropriate), dewormed, up to date on flea/tick prevention, heartworm prevention, and microchipped!<br/><br/>You must be an approved adopter in order to go on meet and greets. This saves everyones time- especially our gracious foster families! This also allows for you to take the animals home from the meet and greet if you so choose.<br/><br/>We are very quick to respond and process applications! All animals are posted until they have gone home to their new family. This animal may have other interested adopters in line. Please apply quickly and be prepared to welcome them into your home within a few days if you are interested.<br/><br/>The Adoption Process:<br/>After our volunteers receive the application, they contact the potential adopter to set up an interview. During the interview they will:<br/>discuss the animal the adopter is applying to adopt,<br/>talk to the adopter about their experience with animals,<br/>find out more about the type of animal the adopter is looking to adopt,<br/>go over any questions the rescue may have regarding your application,<br/>help find the perfect fit for the adopter's family and lifestyle,<br/>and answer any questions the adopter has about the animal they are looking to adopt, the rescue, and how the adoption process works.<br/><br/>As part of the approval process, we require 2 non-family personal references. Our volunteers contact both references and have conversations regarding the potential adopter. If we are unable to reach the references provided, additional references may be requested. We also require a vet check. We will call the vet to conduct a short reference check.<br/><br/>A video walk-through of the adopter's home (and yard, if adopting a dog) is also required. The safety of our animals is one of our top priorities. They deserve to have a safe and secure place to live. The video can be sent to the Whiskers Fund email address or Facebook messenger upon submitting your application. When submitting the video, please reference which animal(s) you are applying to adopt.<br/><br/>Once the adopter is approved and matched with an animal, we will make arrangements for the animal to go to their new home. We hope to have each animal in their new home within a week.
