Mochi's Story

Mochi is a unique cat with a personality that blends friendliness with independence. According to his previous owners, he enjoys companionship but also appreciates his own space and tends to have a more aloof, self-sufficient nature.

Since arriving, Mochi has been feeling stressed and is still adjusting to the cattery environment. With all the recent changes, he may not yet be showing his true personality. Given time, patience, and a calm home setting, he is likely to settle in and become much more relaxed and affectionate.

Mochi would do best with an adopter who understands that some cats need a little extra time to decompress and feel secure. Once comfortable, he has the potential to be a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a more independent, easygoing cat.

Humane Society of Harrison County's Adoption Policy
An adoption application MUST be completed prior to an adoption. This document can be found on our web page www.hshc-paws.org at the bottom of the webpage under quick links. We will need time to process these applications, so if you are coming from out of town, please send them in ahead of your visit. Animals too young for spaying or neutering may NOT be adopted outside of Harrison County, and we can not respond to inquiries asking for exceptions. No pet that has not been altered will be adopted outside of our county due to Texas State law requiring all pets to be altered that come from a shelter or rescue. If they are to young we will adopt out locally so they can be brought back for surgery when they are old enough. Dog adoptions are $100 plus a $50.00 deposit for a spay/neuter surgery. Total adoption fee $150.00. Once the surgery is completed and we receive paperwork back from the veterinarian's office, we will refund you back your deposit. Cat adoptions are $65.00 plus a $35.00 deposit for a spay/neuter surgery. Total adoption fee $100.00. Once the surgery is completed and we receive paperwork back from the veterinarian's office, we will refund you back your deposit.
