Mitzi's Story
Meet Mitzi, a 3-year-old gorgeous gray kitty from Waterbury looking for a fresh start. She first showed up as a friendly stray in August 2023, and a kind family took her in, got her fully vetted, and welcomed her into their home. She was doing well but now that there’s a baby involved, they’re learning a home with children is not the right fit for her so she’s in need of a new beginning.

Mitzi is a playful, curious companion — she loves chasing toys, batting around Nerf balls, and watching the world from a sunny window. She’s very food motivated and enjoys attention, though she prefers affection on her own terms and isn’t a huge fan of being held.

While Mitzi has been a good fit with the adults and teens in her current home, the recent addition of an infant has made her owners realize she may do better in a quieter home. She did have one incident of redirected aggression after seeing another cat outside and was started on a low-dose anxiety medication, which has helped. Hopefully she can be weaned off meds once she’s in the right home environment. Mitzi would thrive with someone experienced in cat behavior, in a home without young children and preferably no other animals due to her reaction to seeing a cat outdoors.

Mitzi is a sweet, spirited kitty who deserves a chance to be understood and loved. Her family took her in to give her a better life — now they’re hoping someone else will be her savior and offer her the safe, loving home she deserves.

Her adoption fee is $200 and Mitzi is vaccinated, FIV/FELV negative, microchipped, and spayed.
