Mittens (special needs arthritis)

Mittens: a quintessential purry lap cat who follows you around until you create a lap<br/><br/>Mittens story: I was left in a hot apartment in 100 weather; the landlord didn't even know I was up there. I was scared and hissy at first and hiding. He was kind enough to allow Fitchburg Friends of Felines up to trap. It took a day but I finally went into that trap After a couple days at the foster home, though, I found my purr box!<br/><br/>The family that had me said I was having seizures. I was brought to the vet, and my blood test showed they were not lying. But I did not have one seizure at the foster family's home. So I was retested a month later, and my numbers were back to normal. The vet said I could have had a reaction to what I ate or environmental. Regardless what was happening, it is not an issue anymore, and I am thrilled!<br/><br/>Let's talk about me. And...I will just do the talking. I am definitely a vocal type. I have the cutest mew, which does not sound like it is coming from me, considering I have grown considerably since arriving here... width-wise. I was put on weight management food, and still growing. I am a food lover, what can I say?<br/><br/>Maybe my new family can portion control a bit better than the sucker I live with now. I mean, nice foster that leaves food out for me constantly.<br/><br/>I like my toys okay, but I would rather spend time following you around, purring, as a reminder that I am your shadow... so when you finally make that thing that you make when sit... aka: a lap... I AM ON IT! Literally... instantly... and I did not even let you get comfortable first! Whether you sat down quickly on the stirs to put yout shoes on, or your morning ritual on the toilet... all laps!!! And I stay there for hours if you let me, so I hope you didn't drink a lot of coffee before you sat down!<br/><br/>If your lap is unavailable, I make accommodations. You got a recliner... I am on the back over your head. No escape from me!<br/><br/>I very occasionally can be a nippy girl/kitten biter. When my foster was done petting me, I would hit her for more attention. I just love to be loved! But she started picking me up and putting me on the chair and giving me treats when she was done, and that works just fine! <br/><br/>I am a great purrer. In fact, that is all I do when you see me. I don't really stop purring. Maybe after a few hours, but then I am back purring. It's great!<br/><br/>I am a bit grouchy around other kitties. I hiss and growl, and sometimes move along. Other times, I hit. I am in a house with other kitties, which some are fine. Others I feel the need to growl at. Like these young, slim perfect size 6 girls around with their calico attitude and... oigh, energy. No use for them. There was one kitty I like, but he doesn't like people. I am trying to show him people are great. He is a bit slow to learn. Men...<br/><br/>So, about my health. I walk with a limp. I get a shot once a month and on supplements to help with the limp. Bad knees. Arthritis. But, if I get on that "d" word I would rather not say out loud (diet), it may help with my knees. I probably would not do this willingly. I love my food.<br/><br/>My ideal home would be someone with a lap. Laps are a must with me! Maybe someone home a lot, someone who works from home and doesn't mind the company on their lap while they work, or a retiree? I would say a stay at home mom, but we all know they are never sitting in one place if kids are present.
