Mittens and Gnocchi Domestic Short Hair Evanston, IL

Meet Mittens (torti mama) Gnocchi (white f).

Gnocchi is a sweet 12-week old kitten who loves to be held, loves a good play session with her wand toy, and will cuddle with her mom. She is gentle natured and easy going with all of her siblings, children, and other animals.

Mitten's is that cool mom that you secretly wished you had. She will happily wrestle and join in the fun with her kittens and doesn't care about a strict curfew. She ensures everyone is eating before she begins and has done such a wonderful job with all seven of her kittens. Mittens LOVES butt and chin scratches. She can get nervous when approached head-on, but when allowed to come to you for pets (which she will) she loves attention.

We rescued Mittens and her ten kittens from one of our animal control partners in Southern IL. Mittens went into labor just three days before she was scheduled to be transported to us and gave birth to six tiny kittens. That same day a litter of four orphaned kittens were brought into the shelter without a mother. Their only hope was to be adopted by Mama mittens. She accepted them as her own and has been a wonderful mother. Unfortunately, three of the tiniest kittens did not make it despite our efforts to save them. The seven remaining kittens: Gnocchi, Muffin, Chickpea, Jam, Avacado, Tootsie and Sprout have grown up to be playful, affectionate kittens thanks to our foster families love and of course Mitten's watchful eye.

We think Mittens had a hard life before she came to us. It is obvious she has not enjoyed the comforts of a home for a while (she is loving timely foodservice and soft blankets now though!) She ended up in a large animal control facility pregnant and all alone. She has blossomed in foster care and now that her kittens are a bit older acts like a kitten herself sometimes. She is gentle natured and a tidy companion. She is close with all of her kittens but seems to have a special bond with Gnocchi.

Mittens and Gnocchi are looking for a home where Mama Mittens will be given time to adjust and feel comfortable. She likes other cats and is easygoing about dogs as well (she's such a sweet cat to everyone she meets. A true wonderful mom.) This pair is gentle, so sweet, and easy-going. We are excited to meet their forever family and they are too.
